The misconduct may result in security violations and subsequent lawsuits. Now more than ever, employees, especially of such an elite profile in the organization as well as the employer, must be extra cautious and knowledgeable of any misconduct, preventive measures to undertake and steps to take when employees engage in conduct that may put the company as well as the entire workforce at risk. E-mail is an authoritative communication instrument that allows individuals to convey information both within and outside of the organization cheaply and promptly.

However, inappropriate use of e-mail and the Internet by an employee can pose a serious problem for the company. This kind of misconduct is common to various institutions; however, it is appropriate to lay proper mechanisms that will help to curb the situation from escalating and, therefore, causing more damage to the company’s workforce. It is essential to introduce employee handbook containing company policies and procedures. The handbook is purposefully meant to provide information to the employees regarding the policies, techniques, practices, performance standards and code of conduct.

The manual helps the company’s management elite and supervisors take appropriate measures in a particular situation such as the one at hand. A properly designed guide may positively inspire employee confidence and determination as well as promote employee reliability. A well-designed handbook can be a significant instrument to elude employee lawsuits and liability. A properly drafted handbook clearly lays down policies and guidelines regarding the operation within the company as well as outlines the procedures for handling inappropriate behavior.
