GOOD LEADERS, GOOD MANAGERSIntroduction Good Management and leadership confuses many to be going hand in hand. The debate of whether good leaders means ability to manage effectively or if good managers make better automatically effectively has been traded to a varied opinions. The difference between the two can be well explained by the approach of achieve their respective targets. Leadership calls for provoking actions out of employees. In a firm’s scenario it involves making employees to understand and believes in a firm’s and the leaders vision and work with him in realizing the desired goals.

Management involves making employees work for the manager. Managers strive to achieve desired goals by making people work for them contrary to work with him as the case for leaders.Work environment encompasses the physical and psychological atmosphere the employees are exposed to as they carry out their daily responsibility (Robbins & Coulter, 2005). A conducive environment is essential for a company to maximize on the potential of its employees (Kelly, 2008). A work place can be autocratic, democratic or laissez-faire depending with the individual at the helm of everything.

An autocratic work environment is the decision as per what ought to be done is solely left to the senior member of the firm. What he proposes is absolute and is used as ordered. A democratic workplace on the other hand is one where opinion of every employee is respected and considered in achieved the desired goals (Robbins & Coulter, 2005). Here, high level members of the firm involve the junior members in coming up with the most effective way to work as a team. A laissez-fair work environment is where subordinate employees are left alone to execute their responsibility in the way they know better.

In laissez-faire, higher level members of the firm believe that subordinate members can do better when left alone and therefore tries to give least guidance to them (Kelly, 2008).The different work environment explained above come with different kind of advantages not forgetting their fair share of limitations. An autocratic work environment for example ensure speedy decision making. It also make it easy to trace responsibility, ensure accountability among the employees and improve response to external environment.

Autocratic however comes with its fair share of limitations (Robbins & Coulter, 2005). Autocratic work environment does not incorporate diversity and creativity that comes with different perceptive (Kelly, 2008). An employee growth is also hinder with this kind of work place as they are not given room to exercise they creativity (Robbins & Coulter, 2005). Laissez fair on the other hand provides room for visionary employees to do what they want do without interference from high level members of the firm.

It can also very suitable when employees are very motivated. Laissez-fair however has limitations that makes its usage challenging. It usually result in lack of initiative to take responsibility by employees (Kelly, 2008). It thus causes blame games and low productivity.Democratic environment on the other hand provides various advantages and the same is true of its disadvantages. Due to its consultative nature, democratic environment work place breeds bright ideas (Kelly, 2008). It also ensure growth of employees of a firm as their ideas are incorporate with the hand in hand.

Democratic work place ensure happier work force where all employees feel part and parcel of the firm (Robbins & Coulter, 2005).For personal growth and effective attainment of my responsibility I would work in a democratic environment. A workforce of this generation is composed of exuberant group with outof-the-box ideas as a leader I will try to inspire creativity out of my work force. I would base my leadership in letting my workforce know that they are the best that there is and profitability of the firm will work advantage on their image.
