Personality Affiliation with more information about affiliation, research grants, conflict of interest and how to contact Topic:  Personality Part 1: Personality Inventory “What’s My Basic Personality?” My basic Personality type is ENFP (Extravert-intuitive-Feeler-Perceiver). ENFPs take their relationships very seriously, but also approach them with an innocent and delicate touch. “The ENFP is often interested in the lives of others and are usually able to interact and draw out the best in people.” (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator n.d para 3). Extraversion: This trait person is enthusiastic, action-oriented. In groups they like to talk and represent attention to themselves. In this trait I scored more. My score was 14. This trait is essential to work in today’s competitive world i.e. to be more active to accept obstacles. Agreeableness: The trait replicates individual dissimilarity for social harmony. Agreeable individuals, get along with others. My score is 11. Conscientiousness: Conscientious individuals attain high levels of success through focused planning and perseverance. My score is 13. This will help me in achieving a suitable position in my future carrier. Emotional Stability: This trait is interlinked with low tolerance for stress.  My score is 11. This need to be reduced as this will influence my way for achievement. Openness to Experience: They are more open to be creative, more possible to be open to innovative ideas and more in-touch with feelings.  My score is 8. I have scored more in extraversion and Conscientiousness as this two is essential trait while attaining the objectives and working efficiently with a group. “What is MY Jungian 16 Type? Possibly one of the most well recognized personality tools is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI). What’s My Jungian 16-Type Personality is a type of test that is not keen on calculating one’s abilities or skills in any area, rather it is a method to assist a person to become conscious of his or her particular type of style.. Within the 16 type personality trait I belong to the ISTJ trait. These trait characteristics are found to be practical and organized and there is a scope for better career choice as a business manager or an office manager who will get higher opportunities in an organization. “Am I a Type A?” Yes, people with ENFP type of personality direct their powers towards the external world of activities and spoken words. As my personality score is 90, I am a Type B personality. The person acquiring this type is found to be enjoying their achievements and is more likely to face any challenges or obstacles. I am creative and I like to explore new ideas and concepts in solving the decision making process. This has helped me a lot in attaining success in most of my team work. Part 2: Personality Group Summary Sheet 1) Results of the personality test point out my character of preferring to maintain personal development as well as build up my career. I need to keep on challenging myself intellectually. According to this test, there are 16 different kinds of personalities. “Where you focus your attention” (Sample Myers Briggs Personality Report n.d pg 1). Introvert- Contemplative and reflective, these people focus their energy on belief and inside experiences. Extrovert- Being action-oriented people, their energy is emphasized in the direction of events and persons in the outside world. “How you take in information” (Sample Myers Briggs Personality Report n.d pg 1). Intuitive- Innovative and often attach themselves to the big picture, they pay attention on patterns, possibilities and potential. Sensor- Tend to focus on current situations and individual experience as well as choose concrete things that can be experienced in the course of the five senses. “How you make decisions” (Sample Myers Briggs Personality Report n.d pg 1). Feeler- They opt for harmony with others and adjust according to the requirements of people around them. Thinker- Judgments are made in the course of objective and logical investigation. These kind of individuals seek to work in a technological and impersonal atmosphere. “How you deal with the outer world” (Sample Myers Briggs Personality Report n.d pg 1). Perceiver- Open and inquisitive they prefer adaptability and flexibility. Judger- They desire to formulate judgments, arrive at conclusions and experience ends. 2) Each personality type has its own characteristic which can be recognized through different traits of an individual. In my group, I have judged the personality traits of three of my members. The personality traits of my group members belong to the ENTJ, ISFJ and ENFP categories. My main group members include Cristina Fehr ,Siying Zuo, and Blair Bishop. They are the active members and their personality trait is described below: Cristina Fehr belongs to ENTJ trait. She has scored 9 in all the traits except emotional stability. She pays attention on activities externally, where they will be able to handle things sensibly and reasonably. She needs to perform better in the future career choice. Siying Zuo score is ISFJ, she has scored more in agreeableness and conscientiousness trait more. They pays attention internally, where they acquire things in five senses in an actual approach. Blair Bishop has scored almost higher score in all the five traits. He is an extrovert and possess 14 score in it. His conscientiousness is 10. As an ENFP, he concentrates externally, and acquires things by perceiving them according to what they think or feel about them. Following table describes the group members personality traits. Personality Inventory Group Summary Sheet MBTI Factor Name Total Introvert Cristina, Siying Zuo Extrovert Blair Bishop Sensor Cristina Fehr Intuitive Blair Bishop Feeler Blair Bishop Thinker Cristina Fehr Judger Cristina Fehr Perceiver Cristina Fehr, Blair Bishop Type A Blair Bishop, Cristina Fehr Type B Siying Zuo 3) In my group there are both Type A and Type B personalities. Cristina Fehr and Blair Bishop belong to Type A personality and Sying Zuo is Type B personality. The Type A is a person who works at his possible speed and strives to attain a big objective. He or she challenges various situations that come in the path of his or her destination. Type Bs might procrastinate at times as they do not get worried easily. They are seen to be hard workers but their ignorance of time gets them a little lazy at times. 4) Every employee wants to excel in his or her career. Therefore, the employees search for more suitable and challenging roles in an organisation to function better. With the help of Big five models, analysing my future career has been easier. I have scored well in extroversion and conscientiousness traits while assessing my personality traits. I am sure that these traits will help me do better in both my existing and future career choices. These traits include social skills, which is necessary to make face to face communication in an organisation. Conscientiousness trait makes a person responsible and achievement oriented which in turn will help the organisation to function effectively. It also helps to “finish tasks and to accomplish things” (Bakker 2002 pg 5) easily. It makes me more rigid in taking my plans and tasks seriously. I will be able to know various aspects of my job and this will help me to display better job performance which will lead to greater achievements. 5) Emotional Intelligence focuses on the personal, emotional, social, and survival dimensions of intellect. “Emotional intelligence is concerned with understanding oneself and others, relating to people, and adapting to and coping with the immediate surroundings” (Grayson n.d). The five dimensions of Emotional intelligence include self awareness, handling emotions, motivation, empathy and social skills. Among these five dimensions, I think social skills are most necessary in an organisation. This is because some of its characteristics, which prove to play a very significant role in an organisation. The team becomes able to face challenges very easily and also helps to work towards greater achievements. Low emotional intelligence causes negative emotions, like anxiety, fear, anger and hostility which lead to lower morale, absenteeism and apathy. Negative emotions create negative energy anger as well as discomfort in employees. There was an important consequence of empathy on excellence and communication result of empathy on concern for quality. This implies that managers, who are poor in it, could be provided suitable training in it that will advance their unease for excellence and help them to solve problems effectively.
