Business Determine How Each Corporate Culture Differs From the Other Coca-Cola and PepsiCo are considered to be two of the most renowned beverage companies operating in different regions of the world. These two companies not only offers substitute products for each other but are also engaged in stiff competition since several decades. Both the companies are also concentrating on adapting new ideas, facts and preferences that justifies its choice and allow it to maintain its leading position amid its customers (Fry, 2013). For several decades, the Coca-Cola and PepsiCo have been in operating in the beverage industry asserting each other to capture high amount of market share, improvement and promotion imprint amidst its consumers. Though friendly activities have been adapted by both the companies to maintain their leading position in the global level, however, it can be said that the main reason behind the continuous adaption of new techniques to attract new customers is their own strategy to change customer preferences and consumption. As a result, it has been viewed that the actions of both the company are often compared. Amid all the factors that has been in debate amid many critics relating to the two companies, the corporate culture prevailing in these two companies is considered to be one of the major factors that has to differentiate these two companies from each other (Grinton, 2010; Barney, 2003). The aspect of culture is considered to be the first priority in Coca-Cola as the company believes in developing an environment which would help in developing true dedication that would help in adapting the values of the company as one own. The first cultural aspect that is being followed in all its plans since its establishment is considering all the local business located in various part of the globe as a single entity. The Coca-Cola brand is determined for its representation of various qualities such as caring, connecting, integrity and excellence. The company also believes in a co-operative form of culture where all employees are provided the opportunity of sharing their ideas whether they work as a lower level staff or are a member of the higher authority. Additionally, emphases are also made to develop a close relation amid all the members working in a group within the organization as it is believed that establishing an close relation would help in developing skills that would directly facilitate in accomplishing the organization goal efficiently. Additionally, it has been viewed that the company recruits people from around the world as it helps in determining the best policy and practice that would help to maintain a balanced working environment (The Coca-Cola Company, 2013; The Coca-Cola Company, 2009). Considering the aspect of culture it is observed that PepsiCo maintains a rigid and managerial form of culture within the organization. The company believes in blazing new traits and is viewed to implement guidelines and rules that help the individuals to develop commitment towards their job but as a team to strengthen the company performance as a whole. The company also strongly believes in recruiting people from diversified back ground as it is believed that recruiting people from diversified background helps in understanding the preferences and the demands of different people belonging to different geographical regions. Additionally, an innovative form of culture also prevails in the company which motivates all employees in the company to adhere innovative ways to meet the discriminating taste and preferences of its global customers (PepsiCo, n.d.). 2. Analyze three (3) ways that each unique culture has benefited by the other’s competition. Corporate culture is considered to one of the vital aspects that help an organization to maintain its operational aspects in a coordinated fashion. Considering the above mentioned aspects of corporate culture, the three ways that each unique culture has benefited by the other’s competition are represented below: Reposition Brand Image: The competition faced by the Coca-Coal and PepsiCo from each other has significantly benefitted each of the unique culture prevailing in the respective companies. Correspondingly, it has been ascertained that due to the fierce competition amid these two companies have resulted in creating a corporate culture wherein brand image is allocated with significant importance (Greenberg, 2010). Focus on Employees and Customers: The second benefit that has been evident to the respective corporate culture of the Coca –Cola and PepsiCo as the result of the competition amid them can be ascertained in the form of recognizing their employees as well as customers to be the most valuable aspect for the success of their respective business (Greenberg, 2010). Innovative Working Culture: The third aspect that can be viewed to be benefitting the respective corporate culture prevailing in both the companies i.e. the Coca-Cola and PepsiCo due to the factor of competition amid these two companies can be attributed with the evolution of culture promoting innovative way of working. This has not only helped in maintain a coordinated way of working environment but has also helped them in maintain their leading position in the beverage industry (Greenberg, 2010). 3. Speculate how each would continue to thrive if its current corporate culture would need to change in the near future. Be sure to state what change(s) you are speculating on and what led you to identify that possibility Adaption of changes is vital in the current frequently business world as it helps in bringing changes that are vital for every business organizations sustain their business. Considering the aspect of corporate cultural, it has been viewed that an informal working environment plays a vital role in increasing the productivity of the organization Therefore, if both the company adapt an informal way of working culture; they would be able to continue to thrive. The vital reason behind identifying the aspect of informal working environment as the main change it that it has been view that today’s employees tends to perform better when they are provided with cordial environment. And with the growing competition in the corporate world, it is vital that changes are made considering the productivity of an employee and for this reason aspect of informal working environment has been identified as the change that may be adapted in the future (Commonwealth of Australia, 2009).
