Social work themes in art University Student Id Course Tarryn Gill Tarryn Gill is an art of Perth, Australia designed in the year 1981 where the artist was trying to illustrate a music theatre using painting. The art encompasses performance, photography, film, design, theatre and choreography. It is trying to explore the history based taking the perspective of feminism where it has fascinated the past era of Gill. The artist is making use of a highly stylized language in a visual way through the series of artwork aimed at criticizing the national histories that involved exploration of the gender politics. How the artwork relates to social work The piece of art can be associated with social work in various ways. First, it is clear that the artist was trying to communicate how the society historically has been neglecting the female gender. The social setup and the roles of the different gender in the society are demonstrated where the artist is trying to explore how the females have been neglected in the society. The art can assist in exploring the different assumptions that have been existing in the society concerning the roles of the different gender in the society (Nelson, Kauffman & Dore, 2005). According to the piece of art, it is like the female gender is taken to be lesser that the male gender in various ways. The piece of art does communicate the relationships that do exist in the community between the male and the female gender. The roles in the community seem to be determined by the gender where there are different roles for the female and the male gender. Besides, it is clear that the female gender seems to be discriminated in the piece of art in different ways. The piece of art communicates the female gender to be historically discriminated in holding leading role where men are given the superior role. The piece of art does communicate to the people the kind of society that has been existing in the past. Besides, the changes in the relationships and roles are captured in the art aiming at showing the transformations that have been existing in the society and they are likely to affect the family roles. The family setup is shown to change with time as the feminist activities have been championing for equal opportunities. It is clear that the artist is a contemporary artist that is aiming at establishing how changes in social set up have been changing the roles of the two genders. Second, the piece of art is illustrating strong human emotions as the female activists are championing for their say in the society and engagement in various activities of the opportunities. Considering the art both men and women are shown participation in same activities which is an indication that the female activities are fighting for representations in a different position. It is like the artists are trying to communicate that the time is ripe for the female gender to be given back their position in the society. This is shown by the way he has painted the men and women doing something common. Besides, the artist is demonstrating that the females can do what men can do by painting both genders while engaging in common activities. The art piece represents the changes that are taking place in the society concerning the gender roles. The distance that has been existing between the men and female history seem to be eliminated. This has led to improved relationship between the two genders leading increased interactions. Third, the piece of art has an influence on various social life forms where rationalization can come into play. In this context, rationalization is taken to represent the major theme of sociology as communicated by the piece of art. The piece of art can be taken to represent the societal evolution that has been taking place leading to the influence of various forms of societal life. For instance, the artist has communicated how the relationships existing between the two genders has changed where the historical gap is being eradicated gradually. This can also be a representation of the cultural erosion where the values of the society are fading rusting in different ways of life that are not advocated by the society. The piece of art can be taken to communicate the change of values and the changes that are seen in the social set up where the female are now taking the originally what was referred to as men’s roles. Therefore, the piece of art can be used to show how the elimination of the social stratification has been gradual where the male and the female can now interact better that they use to interact with history (Saleebey, 2006). Besides, the lives of the female gender seem to be improved by being considered in various activities in the society. Their lives must have been improved by the way they are being engaged in the community activities making them be part of the solution to the issues facing the society. As a result, they can be able to represent their interests being considered thus eliminating the historical suffering. The artists were trying to communicate ten w dawn for the female gender in the society where they live and the general welfare is likely to improve. Fourth, looking at the piece of art the artist was communicating the participation of both gender in the recreation activities. It is through the recreation activities that the society can be brought together hence ensuring harmony as the two gender can interact during the activities. The difference can be eliminated and better ways of solving their issues obtained by ensuring close interactions of the two genders. Participating in common activities can assist in filling the gap existing between the male and the females thus assisting in solving issues of the society (Kanuha, 2000). The participation in the community activities aimed at improving the welfare of the entire community can be possible through organizing activities that can bring people together in the society to ensure that they share their ideas on the way to hand the problems facing the society. The artist communicated a society that is in harmony making it easy to handle issues at the society level as the members of the society are in a position to talk in same voice hence able to solve their issues. Also, the painting can be taken to represent how a society can ensure unity through integrating the two genders that can be possible through ensuring that no differences are existing between the two genders in the society. Relation with what I have read about social work The piece of art is related to what I have read in this semester about social work. For instance, the art revolving about the issues related to the welfare of the female gender. According to what I have read about social work, the main aim of the social worker is to guarantee the welfare of the society is improved through ensuring that the necessary services are provided. The services are said to be geared toward ensuring that the welfare of the society is improved through offering various solutions to the affected member of the community. Considering the piece of art, it is trying to communicate the historical challenges that are being faced by the female gender. The painting of both men and women in same activities is an indication that the artist was trying to communicate the solution to the challenges facing the female gender can be obtained by eliminating the differences existing between the two genders. Also, in this semester I have learned about the need for engagement in the process of offering services to the society. The artwork has cleared communicated the need for engagement in the process of solving issues of community interest. The painting of the artwork involve both genders where they are engaged in the process of solving the historical challenges faced by the female genders in the society. Through engagement, the various stakeholder in the community is given the opportunity to provide their opinions concerning how better they think the issues of community concerns can be handled (Weick, et al. 2009). This assists in ensuring that there is no resistance to change as the interests of the various stakeholder are considered to ensure that the best solution is achieved. Personal impact Some of my personal impacts can include the new insights that I have acquired considering the theme of social transformations that is being communicated by the artwork. I have gained new knowledge concerning how artwork can be used in the process of communicating the social work. Also, I have gained more understanding concerning the best ways of ensuring that the community issues are solved where I have realized that changing perspectives of the parties experiencing relations conflicts can assist in solving the conflict. The artwork has broadened my knowledge concerning how harmony and unity in the community can be developed to ensure that the community members can solve their issues together.
