Majid's Children of Heaven - Movie Review Example

Film Analysis – Children of Heaven Introduction Many people have been successful in composing movies and books that have good moral lessons to educate the society on different fronts. One of the talented writers and movie director, Majid Majidi has been effective in his thoughts about how to live in a world with constrained resources yet achieve your goals in life. In his masterpiece, Children of Heaven, Majid emphasizes on the fact that sometimes less can be more, and that little things in life can make a huge difference. Majid’s Children of Heaven is a bright jewel that offers a cross cultural understanding of family love and a never ending level of determination in children that makes them survive even when in dire circumstances. This paper presents an analysis of the movie, Children of God, focusing on how the writer and director have been effective in their use of approaches that have made this movie a masterpiece. Movie Analysis For this movie, the hero in the movie is given to Mir Hashemian Farrokh. Farrokh is a desolate-looking young boy who has the ability to send his tears rolling freely on his cheeks. The tears shed by this boy well up with regularity in the film over the 9-year-old Ali alongside Zahra his young sister (a role played by Seddiqui Bahareh) (Adni 2014). They are planning to share the only pair of tattered sneakers that they think can enable them good lives like other children since they have never had them. The children are trying their best not to reveal the fact that these shoes, which belong to Zahra have been lost; their greatest fear is that if their parents understand this development then it will be a real hardship to them. In this film, the family is staying in well detailed poverty levels which are a real representation of the film maker’s life experience. The different events in this film can be seen effectively in the ingenious eyes of these children, something that seems common in most of the Iranian films (Kamrava 34). In most of such films, the use of children’s eyes becomes very helpful in the process of circumventing the government censors. In this film, life seems to be sweet despite the main uncountable hardships that these children have to confront. Additionally, there seems to be no reality going beyond economic intrudes upon an atmosphere that is characteristic of a fairy tale. In this film, it is evident the quality and kind of life in Tehran is carefully documented in many of the daily activities of life. Some of this events range from the sweet potatoes that can be found freely in Ali’s family to the scenes of a woolen garment having to be reknitted in order to make a different wear there isn’t enough money to buy a new one. These conditions of life seem very tough especially for a Turkish family that resides in the southern part of the Iranian city (Kamrava 54). In the north, such kind of life is contrasted from those of the wealth people. This contrast is meant to bring out the fact that sometimes, what seems to be less can be more depending on how one perceives it. About the conditions of life depicted in the film The film makers have been successful in identifying the dilapidated kind of life that children are meant to grow from. Their parents are careful in teaching them how to develop a positive outlook despite the fact that it is not feasible at that time. The contrast in the conditions of life depicted among the people living in northern Iran indicates that two classes of people exist in life. Culturally, it seems that people in the low class accept their state and work their way out in order to transcend to higher levels of life. In this movie, one of the most elaborate episodes is that which depicts Ali, together with his father (Naji Amir) having to endure a very punitive bike ride in order seek a gardening job in the rich homesteads of Teheran. This situation seems to be typical of the situation where Majidi is made to rely on the journey of hope, which later ends in deep frustration. Later, out of nowhere, there emerges a child from some of the rich families and expresses an interest in making Ali one of his best and trusted friends. The two young stars in the film seem to be very guileless even in as much as the family is doing its best to convert the issue of the issue to be the point of dramatic focus. Later, Zahra and Ali plan a secret meeting on one of the school days inn order to give back the sneakers that seem to be getting too far (Adni, 2014); however, the step is too late since it does not serve as the best solution to the problem that has prevailed. Perhaps one of the reasons that make Zahra want to return the sneakers is that they are ill-fitting especially making her feel the odd one among the rest of the girls in the girls school she attends. Conclusion This movie has been produced by the Institute of Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults in Iran. It is aimed at showing that all schools are beneficial children that attend them in order to succeed in life despite of the economic and social hardship that they may seem to face. Overwhelmed by the poverty situation, Ali wants to take part in marathon race and win a third place finish in order to buy shoes for her daughter. This kind of determination is what characterizes successful people that emerge from poverty stricken backgrounds. It is important to note that “Children of Heaven,” offers a kindly and enveloping sense of life in Iran, including its customs. For instance, it illustrates the cultural practices of the community when the family has to make sugar cubes that are served in the Mosque during meeting times (Kamrava 67).
