Office Art Memo Office Art Memo The CEO Office Art Memo Impressionist was an artmovement formed by artists based in Paris. The independent exhibition of these painting enabled the artists become popular during the period of the 1870s and 1880s. The 19th-century artistic movement gave a modern way of presenting art that later faded courtesy of photography and literature. The artistic style was officially launched in 1874 in the studio of photographer and journalist Felix Nadar. However, postimpressionist art movement was an art movement developed between 1886 and 1905 as a reaction against impressionist principle of the natural depiction of color and light. The art used definitive forms and simplified colors to form an entirely new aesthetic sense (Moffett, 1998). Example of Impressionist and Post- Impressionist Paintings The impressionist paintings include: A Matador, Young Woman with Ibis, and View of Vetheuil. ‘A Matador impressionist art has color painted side by side with a little mixing, and it has a strongly colored ground. It was made by French, Edouard Manet. The ‘View of Vetheuil’ impressionist art was created in the year 1880 by Claude Monet, from France. The artwork also has a more vivid color with a light colored background. Besides, the painting is out- door with the shadowy effects detailed. On the other hand, the ‘Young Woman with Ibis’ impressionist work was an out- door painting and had no use of black color. The painting was made by a French woman, Edgar Degas, who was an impressionist. It was made in the year 1860 to 1862 and had an emphasis on natural light. The colors in the painting are placed side by side with no mixing (Moffett, 1998). There are several post-impressionist paintings and they include ‘Still Life with Teapot and Fruit’, ‘Tahitian Faces: Frontal Views and Profiles’, and ‘Road in Etten.’ ‘Still Life with Teapot and Fruit’ is non- naturalistic, even though simplified, and a trait that defies the principles of impressionist art. It has flowers hanging on their own without obeying the force of gravity. The artwork also has flat patches in bold colors, esoteric symbolism, and decorative line. Paul Gauguin, a renowned post- impressionist, made the artwork. However, the ‘Tahitian Faces: Frontal Views and Profiles’ is another painting by Paul Gauguin. It is simplified and non- realistic and has a decorative line depicting some level of primitivism (McCoy, 1980). ‘Road in Etten’ art was made by Vincent Van Gogh, who was an anti- impressionist. It does not consider the restriction made by the impressionist art as it applies the emotional intensity of brushstroke and color. It is more detailed since it gives the personal feeling of the artist. It purposely distorts color and form to express the artist’s feelings. Appearance of the Paintings ‘A Matador’ is an illustrious Cayetano Sanz painting. Cayetona, a bull fighter, has a red cape. ‘View of Vetheuil’ is a painting showing a winding footpath through a poppy field toward a Vetheuil church tower (Rubin, 2014). ‘Young Woman with Ibis’ is a painting showing a woman covering most of her body with blue clothing and two red ibises standing on her front and back. Far away, several buildings are seen including a tall tower. The buildings are the Middle Eastern cityscape image. The ‘Still Life with Teapot and Fruit’ painting has mangoes, spoon, metallic kettle, two flowers and incomplete calabash. The objects are on an improperly spread table cover. The painting ‘Tahitian Faces: Frontal Views and Profiles’ has got three faces each facing different sides. Centrally centered is a dark- haired woman that conjoins the right and left rendering profiles. The faces are mask- like with closed lips and blank eyes. The painting ‘Road in Etten’ is a drawing depicting the landscape and people’s life. It shows a winter with pollard willow and images of five people. The clearest image of an individual shows a man sweeping the road. The drawing also captures the landscape characteristics. Historical Significance of Each Painting ‘A Matador depicts Manets trip to Spain in 1865 and shows the bullfighting culture among the Spanish. The painting ‘View of Vetheuil’ shows a historical Monet house in 1878. ‘Young Woman with Ibis’ was painted during the period between 1857 and 1858, on Degas’ second Rome visit. ‘Still Life with Teapot and Fruit’ was made during the period 1879 and 1880. It is the painting that marks Gauguin period when he was so broke. The painting ‘Tahitian Faces: Frontal Views and Profiles’ show the generation that were not impacted with the modern civilization. The painting is a reflection of Tahiti women. The ‘Road in Etten’ painting was done by Gogh in 1881during his brief stay in Etten (Devito, 2008). The Meaning to the Company ‘A Matador’ will show that the company appreciates historical culture and diversity. The company can use the painting ‘View of Vetheuil to demonstrate that it understands nature. The winding footpath also can be used to depict the up and down that one has to face to be successful. The painting ‘Young Woman with Ibis can be used to show how humans should relate to other animals and bring the essence of sustainability. It can be used to depict the sustainable coexistence of nature, human beings, and the man- made physical environment. The painting ‘Still Life with Teapot and Fruit can mean the role of the human in the company. Since the painting lacks human nature, one can translate that it is the reason for the high level of disorganization on the table. It can, therefore, be used to show how responsible the employees should be and the role of management in the organization. The painting ‘Tahitian Faces: Frontal Views and Profiles can be used to show an emotionless company through the blank eyes and tight lips. The three phases can be used to show the multidisciplinary approach the company puts to achieve its goals. It can be used to show the flexibility of the company and its timeless operation over its years of existence. The painting ‘Road in Etten’ can be used in the company to depict the division of labor.
