Synthesis of pixelization and representational painting as an approach to enhance ive expressivity and technical artistry of the painting Institution Abstract Art technique development is important in finding ways to present artwork in a more elaborate and better manner. Development of painting art techniques is a progressive with most ideas coming from critical viewing of the representation and finding way to make them better and diverse. Other development concentrates on digitalizing system to form representation. Representational painting has been has existed for number of decades in all culture. Pixelization on the other hand has previously remained used specifically in digital systems in controlling parts audience should not see in an image or videos. Combination of these two techniques will provide a new hybrid technique for representing paintings. The hybridized system will take care of pixelization level for the painting not to lose clarity. Development of representational painting took time with artists like Leonardo De Vinci seeing it differently and transforming painting art for better representation (Tabak, 2009 p.56). Hybridization of these techniques will require development and continued practice to make it better. In approving and adoption of this new hybridized technique by artists will show that hybrids are also valid method in painting. In the research, combination of the two techniques will show possibility of producing a new technique in representation of objects and scenes. The research will objectively find a way of introducing the new combination of techniques to the already existing ones and show combination of other techniques is possible to form new ones. In this research, there is consideration of using only black and white colors to show the effects. Employment of only black and white colors ensures non-complex representation of the artwork. Developing new techniques such as hybrids is important to all parties involved in developing their work and in better presentation. Introduction Development of painting techniques over the years yielded better ways of representation, but this focus on one dimension limits our abilities in finding diverse methods in representations. In painting alone, focus on improvement has led to various techniques that include fresco, watercolor, quadrature and miniature painting techniques. The technique will improve presentation and scope choices for artist to representation of an object or a scene. Use of combined techniques in image formation may give some of the best form of arts ever seen. It may just require learning expertise in different techniques and ability to combine them to create a magnificent artwork with great value (Levinson 2011 p.1). Development of these techniques used in painting requires creativity to give an appealing artwork and at the same time deliver the massage required. In the past, concentration in developing new techniques denied the hybridisation of existing techniques a chance limiting work in this area. This research acts to introduce a new representation technique by combining existing techniques to form a unique one. The research will provide new techniques for student studies, professors and artists who will validate the work. Painting is the act of application of dye or coloring matter on a surface in a systematic manner with purpose of representing the scene or objects in question. The surfaces painted range from paper, wood surface to concrete walls. There have been many developments in painting styles dating back to prehistoric humans and its presence is in all cultures. These developments consider only painting as one technique hence there is need to combine it with other techniques to create a unique hybrid that may provide a diverse representation. Pixelization is the practice of making images blurred by use of pixels. In digital system, it many censor faces or parts of the body. In artwork, it may not necessarily cause blur image to hide part of it but give a unique characteristic to a representation. Pixelization still remains unexplored and is rich in potentials and its visualization uses physical support (Levy 2007 p.7). In combination of these techniques, the research will use the pixel if different black and color intensities to form representational painting. In current situation, pixelization application is in hiding inappropriate part of image or video representation not meant for general audience. Hypothesis in the proposal looks in ways of using the two techniques in the representation interact. Formed image should have the ability to create an imagination by forming representation of the object or scene. Imagination part uses gestalt from psychology that accompanies pixelization. At the same time, representation needs to maintain the quality of an art. In the research, the representation formed will have effect through each single technique and together as collective technique. This representation will have artwork qualities of both painting and use of pixels. Methodology in this research relies on the ability of a person’s brain to form a comprehensive image from rather unclear representation. Since the information present is on either one of the techniques, consideration of research and results from resources of both categories is important. This effect is best known as gestalt from psychological point of view (Wheeler 2013 p.60). The word comes from German language, which means ‘whole’. In this way, the pixelated painting will use human imagination to create a comprehensive image. The research will employ the use of pixelization and painting using only black and white colors. The colors intensity will contrast depending on the scene and objects in question. The research checks on the applicability of combining the two techniques to form a new way of representing object or scene. The research will formulate new ways to look at artwork develop by consideration hybridization of the current techniques. Through carrying out the research, a valid new way of representation will remain established. The image will have all the quality needed in painting representation and artwork. The use of imagination in forming in part of perception is fundamental in creation of representation to portray any required message or just aesthetic value. The research will provide a new way to look at hybridization as a valid technique in representing an object or scene. The students will also have a new way of assessing art quality and having variety of arts to study. The outcome will provide artist with new ways to present their work in a more appealing manner.
