Linda and her Life It was a beautiful evening a girl was sitting all alone on a chair in a restaurant. She was looking at the window occasionally. That window was opening towards the road where the light traffic was running on the road. She was quiet and was in deep thoughts, and she was unaware of the fact that there are people sitting in that restaurant, and they are noticing her. Linda was fully dressed and accessorized she was looking pretty. She was there because she wanted to live her life the way she was living before and wanted to act normal. She was being depressed for many days. The reason was that she broke up the guy with whom she spent five years of her life. Each person from her circle knew about their relationship, and she was afraid to answer the questions that what happened? How did it happen? Why did it happen? After having 2 cups of coffee and sitting for hours, Linda ordered some food. It was the place where She was used to coming with her ex-boyfriend on a regular basis. It was the reason due to which she was quiet and was trying to accept the fact that now she is alone. She wanted to be with that guy, but the situation and circumstances didn’t allow them to further continue the relationship. Suddenly, her friend came across and sat next to her and started asking about her life and her boyfriend Alex. When, Linda tells the whole story of her breakup to her friend, her friend says, “oh! It was not expected at all from both of you. You guys were so good with each other. You should have given him one more chance it might have worked out. But, I think if you are ok with it then enjoy as you are having fun here.” Linda had no answer, she suddenly started feeling regretful and then her friend moves to another table. She was there to forget about everything related to him and wanted to live normal life with no regrets. But her friend just criticized her and it was very painful for Linda. Meanwhile, her ordered food arrives at her table, and she started eating that food. Then, one more friend saw her and come to her table asks her that why she has her food alone? Why her boyfriend is not here today? Why was she not coming here for many days? Linda again tells her breakup story and reasons to leave him, and she mentioned that she was depressed too. In response, her friend says, “It seems you are happy after the breakup, I hardly caught you this much dressed and accessorized you are looking pretty than before. It seems you are celebrating your breakup now and with this speed soon you will be with another guy. Have fun and enjoy your meal because I have to catch up my boyfriend” After this statement that a friend also moves next, and Linda again went into deep thoughts and kept bearing the hidden pain inside her. She ends up leaving her food on the table and thinks that she does not deserve all this, and she is spending her life the way she wants to. She deserves a good and happy life. People are criticizing and judging her by her appearance, actions, and words but not with the feelings. At the same time, one of her male friend Harry came who sits with her and listens to her breakup story. After listening to it, he pretended that he understands her situation, and he want to come into a relationship with her. She didn’t response in a positive manner because she was not ready to start another relationship, and she wasn’t healed from past relationship. Then Harry says, “It seems you are totally ready for a rebound! Linda replied “O no! Not at all!” Harry continued talking to her that she will need a boyfriend because she cannot live her life alone. At the same moment, one more friend came and asked if Linda and Harry are together or not. Harry spontaneously replied that yes we are thinking about it. Then, that friend also in a taunting tone says to Linda “You are going too fast after breaking up with your boyfriend, good change, keep it up!” After listening to it, Linda leaves that place and feels more pressure on her mind. These societal expectations and behaviors were leaving worse psychological impacts on her mind. She was kept on thinking that no one was happy with whatever she is doing in her life. People were judging her and criticizing her. Moreover, no one was taking her situation and feelings seriously. It was possible that these societal behaviors and her inner feelings will lead her towards the mental health decline. These taunts and statements of her friends badly impacted her in a negative manner to her personality. The next day she come to that place again and sits alone with a thought that she will answer to each critic in an appropriate manner. Like last day, few of her friends came across and asked that why she is sitting alone. She then answers by being a bit rude to them because of her last experience. She said that she had got all rights to do anything in her life. In addition, whatever she had done in her life was totally her decision and no one have the right to tell what he or she expect from her. She did not entertain any of the proposals from anyone because she has got the courage to live her life alone by her way. After that day whenever anyone dared to say anything about her past relationship and her current lifestyle, Linda, who was the most polite and mannered girl goes rude and weird. Linda was a total different personality than ever before. The reason was that she was totally not in the condition to bear the societal pressure and she never wanted to fit in the societal requirements.   Works Cited Hinshaw, Stephen and Rachel. Kranz.
