Act 1opens the overture in which the historian comes on stage and gives his story. It is the story of Kin Arthur who is riding through the land trying to find worthy men to join his Round Table. After several failed attempts, he finds Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Robin the not-so-quite-brave-as-Sir-Lancelot and Denis Galahad. Prince Herbert, the son to the King of Swamp Castle, glumly sits in his tower waiting for a knight to rescue him from the clutches of his father.

Lancelot eventually arrives to rescue him. The Lady of the Lake gives words of encouragement to a thoroughly discouraged King Arthur. To achieve this feat, they require a completely new weapon for which they have to receive instructions from brother Maynard and the Monks. Having overcome these final obstacles, it is time for the Knights of the Round Table to celebrate with a Broadway wedding.

The play brings to the fore certain prominent themes. To begin with, there is the theme of bravery and determination. King Arthur is looking for brave men
