It is a poor description of what happens in nature because to survive, organisms with poor adaptations can change slowly over time to become adapted to the environment. The events of natural selection and speciation are the main causes of evolution which means an organism develops new traits to survive in harsh climatic conditions.

Natural selection acted on the phenotype while the genetic characteristics were not altered which leads to produces the appearance of design in nature. This relates to the patterns as discussed by Eldredge in the sense that when a certain species is bred with another one from a different part of the world, it leads to the creation of new patterns of species that are well adapted to the environment.

It is a dangerous idea since it bases its argument on the ground that species once developed or created can never transform which is not correct. For instance, gene duplication can form different species resulting from the same parental organism mainly because of polyploidization.

For instance, a common rhea that Darwin located in South America when bred with another ostrich produced a new species that fitted the environment.

Human activity such as mining and construction dismantle animal homes thus rendering them homeless and at the same leaving them vulnerable to predators and extreme climates that make their survival hard.

Global climate change and environmental pollution lead to the production of poisonous gases such as carbon dioxide that endanger some species such as marine life. This is because they consume poisonous chemicals that either kill them or alter their reproductive system. On the same front, change in temperatures and climate conditions leads to prolonged dry spells which wipe away animal homes thus hindering the evolution of new species. Read More
