These he did until 2004 when he started doing his own show called Craig Doyle Show which was a travel celebrity programme in Ireland. He did appear on BBC2 on Sunday Grand stand. I happened to book an appointment with journalist Jayson Mansaray and Craig Doyle a TV and radio broadcaster during the annual alumni conference held at famous 81/2th floor of London College of Communication. Student: Dear Jayson and Craig it is my pleasure to talk to you today being the great day in LCC calendar. Welcome once again in London College of communication. Jayson: thank you. Craig: thank you. Student: my first question goes to Jayson. Please tell me more about how you landed in London College of communication. Did you ever imagine in your life to do journalism? Jayson: well, yes and no. When I was growing up I loved watching news and camera shooting. I admired news reporting. The most difficult part was identifying the best college for journalism. I developed interest in Craig’s way of reporting and news anchoring. He was a great motivation to me. Student: then what happened until you are now alumni of LCC? Jayson: that is a long story. What I can say is that I was destined to be here. I got a scholarship from Bloomberg bursary which enabled me to here at London College of communication. Student: tell me something about your journey to Russia? How did you land there? Jayson: having applied for post graduate studies at London College of communication, I got an opportunity at Russia international (RT) TV. This is when I had my greatest challenge of reporting on racism in Moscow for the Dotun Adebayo. Student: what was the experience? Jayson: it was a bit tough being that this was my first major international practice. Student: what were some of the most challenge part? Jayson: the greatest challenge was learning about the new environment, adopting the new eating habits and understanding the culture of the inhabitants of Moscow. Student: how did you manage it? Jayson: this the time made use of the rich knowledge I acquired from London College of communication. I had to look for an interpreter who understood the local dialect of the people of Moscow. It was necessary to come to the understanding the genesis of cultural hatred among the Russian people. Student: what was the most enjoying part of your time in Moscow? Jayson: Russia has the best areas worth touring. I loved eating the local Russian and touring the area. I loved listening to the stories from the very receptive Russian population. The stories were scaring at the same time very capturing. Student: what would you say about your personal principles in regard to the journalism profession? Jayson: I am an open minded person. I do believe in myself and in my ability to accomplish any task assigned to me. My passion of doing any assigned task within the right time. These principles have helped me a lot in this career of journalism. Any journalist must possess a good number of these qualities. Student: how would you rate products from London College of communication compared with fellow journalists practicing in the same field but from other colleges? Jayson: London graduates are the best trained in this field of media. Student: thank you. Jayson: welcome. Student: back to you Craig. Would please tell us more about you? Craig: I am Craig Doyle a TV and radio broadcaster was born in 1970. I first studied sociology and history at St. Patrick College. Student: may you tell us more about the origin of interest in sport? Did you love playing football at any level of your schooling? Craig: journalism is a very funny career. You need not to do something know it. I treated sports just like any literature item. A good example is that of an accident happening on the road. You need not to be involved in it to do a quality job. Journalists are trained in such a way that they can synthesize any work. Student: what do women take you to be? Craig: no….no! It is believed that Craig is charming but that’s not what is driving me in this career. It is good and normal for every journalist to have a following. They in one way or the other contribute to this at the same a time by the type of shows they present. I am aware of being branded “Mr. Nice”. I know this is partly because of the way I put up when doing my presentations on TV. Student: what about your love for Ireland? Craig: I love to finish my career in Ireland. I love the Irish people, the land and the sense of communal life there. Though the job market in Ireland may not be rewarding as here, I would love to live in a small village outside London. I love keeping animals and staying where every neighbor knows one another. Student: what about your family? I mean do you have a family? Craig: Yes I have a family. When I get back home it is a different story. I do may shows to cheer people up and make them happy. This I do not bring home as some people may think. I thank God my children are still young to be hanging on the TV to follow what I have been doing on the airwaves. Student: what is your greatest humiliation? Craig: humiliation! Why humiliated? Student: I am saying this with reference to your experience with the RTE? Craig: oh! No…..! Well it could be true. RTE chose a junior photo journalist with very little experience to do call Brendan over me to host primetime Saturday night. This was humiliating. This however made me more confident than before. Student: thank you. Craig: welcome. Jayson: where are you seeing yourself in the next ten years? Craig: Well I cannot tell now, but I believe to own my small TV station in Ireland. What about you Jayson? Jayson: I am seeing myself to have achieved much as you have. Craig: all the best. I hope you’ll be keen to visit me during my commissioning stage? I hope to work with you in future. Jayson: I hope to find time then. I love your confidence and your style of approach to journalism. I will always be keen to consult with you every now and again.
