Lethal Injection by Vilhelm Sjostrom The painting under scrutiny is from the website www.janileinonen.com. It is called “Lethal Injection” composed by Vilhelm Sjostrom. All paintings on the website are owned by Jani Leinonen. The picture depicts Scooby-Doo tied up to a bed and an IVR set up on him. He looks happy as ever and is sticking out his tongue like he does in all animated cartoons. Jani Leinonen is known for being a patriot and his movement against McDonald is well-known news.
He openly infringes copyrights and is known to have made it to the jail a couple of times for it. A Masters in Fine Arts, he edits existing images the way he likes. Cartoon images have a general appeal to the public and he conveys a general public image by manipulating them to render his own message. He abducted Ronald, the marketing strategy of McDonald, and asked them to reveal their code of ethics. On non-compliance, Jani Leinonen and his friends destroyed Ronald and had to spend a few days in jail.
He and his friends call themselves the Food Liberation Army (Leinonen). The picture in question is the right opposite of what Scooby-Doo is on screen. Scooby-Doo is a scared-to-death character who gets lucky each time there is a mystery to solve. He runs away from the slightest sign of danger and is a huge fan of food. The painting is part of the “True Patriot” Series. Scooby-Doo is a ‘lucky’ patriot. He has to be infused with special IVRs to get him to be that special patriot and stop being the scared character that he is.
To make him a brave dog, he needs that extra shot. The picture’s name is also very interesting. For Scooby the injection is lethal to say the least. He enjoys his laid-back life style. He avoids any confrontations and believes in a blissful and content life. To become a patriot he will have to leave all his pleasures and work more as an individual. Be a more proactive member of his team. If he becomes a patriot his skills will be more useful not just as a big dog with his team, but also a sleuth who has good mystery solving skills.
Looking at the picture and at Jani Leinonen’s way of life if is not difficult to draw similarities. Jani Leinonen and the after-effects of the ‘Lethal Injection” are the same. A kicking Scooby and a patriotic Jani Leinonen have the same qualities. He has a way of injecting his spirit through the paintings and presenting it to the people. It is up to the people to follow or not. Most people today are so busy with their schedules that they do not have time to look up and see what is going on around them.
People like Jani Leinonen make headlines and turn heads, making the general public realize that there is something wrong with the system that we have grown used to.ReferencesLeinonen, Jani. Interview with Jani Leinonen Regine. 25 January 2012. Text. .
