Information: One common characteristic of these four paintings that has been featured in this page is the turbulence which i strongly believe demonstrates Pollock mastery in painting because achieving the same is obviously a feat worthy commending. One of the things that come in my mind when I look at the four painting is the automation that must have been involved during their preparation. By this I mean, the abstractness of the images that have been made by the lines, images that appears to lay emphasis on the creativity of the painter.

It is this automation that creates an impression of Pollock’s absentmindedness in their preparation. There is no doubt that Pollock made them without any rational control something that opened up the paintings to his own impulses and inner feelings. There is even a sense of the paintings having a life of their own emanating from the uniqueness. Otherwise I believe that it is utterly impossible for Pollock to deliver a replica of any one of these painting a second time, which I believe is consistent with his own assertion to the effect that “he is never aware of what he is doing when he is in any of his painting, only realizing the kind of a paining he has done after what he calls a “get acquainted” period (42)” All the four paintings looks like moody but enthusiastic scenes with landscapes that somehow appear recognizable.

There is a high possibility that he intended to communicate with the viewer through these painting but failed to realize that objective by failing to involve a simpler visualized painting. Looking carefully at the lines making up these painting one cannot fail to note how grotesque they are. In fact, you can call them as overlapping, flowing, springy, scattered, tangled, flowing, or even meandering. However, the rhythm in them enables the Pollock to create space in either of them. He also manages to create tone in this painting something that a viewer can identify by just imagining these overlapping lines making sounds.
