Canada is one of the places where tourist is greatly attracted towards . The Canadian Rockies that is located in the northern part of America specifically at the part of Rocky Mountains of North America and extends on the eastern part of Canadian cordillera from the Alberta interior plains to the trench of Rocky Mountains of the British Colombia is one of the tourists attractions. It boarders Idaho on the south of USA (Roger, pp, 30, 2005). The Northern part extends to Liard River, which is on the British Colombia. In the past five years the Canada has become one of the most preferred tourist Canadas in the world. Due to that, they society around the area has realised the need for them to preserve and maintain their culture. Major features of the natural environment Canada is one of the places where tourist is greatly attracted towards. One of the natural features around the area that may be of great interest to the tourist is the mountains that are surrounding area. The Canada is surrounded by a range of mountains which are structure into two group namely the northern Rockies which further is made up of Muskwa and Hart ranges and the other part is continental range which is divided into kootenay, park and front range. These provide the tourist with an opportunity to undertake only mountaineering but also hike and ice skate (Roger, pp, 20, 2005). The other natural feature is the availability of animals that are mainly found in the surrounding parks. These parks offer the tourist an attraction because of the variety of animals that are found there. Some of the animals that are there included the polar bears, variety of births and so many species of fish and other aquatic animals. Some other very important natural features include the waterfalls and the climate of the area (Roger, pp, 29, 2005). The climate of Canada is cool, which enables the tourists to enjoy the cool breeze in the absence of scorching sun. The kind of society at the Canada The indigenous people like Arapaho, Apache, Bannock, Cheyenne, Blackfoot, flathead, crow, Sioux, Shoshone, Kutenai and Ute, dominated the Canadian rocky part of Canada since in the ancient days. The Paleo-Indian at the place are mainly known to be hunters of the Ancient bison and mammoth at the foothills as well as the mountain valleys. They are also known to migrate during the heavy snow seasons to the valleys and foothills of the mountains where they hunt dears and elk, practice fishing and collect roots and berries as their economic activity and for food (Riley et el, pp. 78, 1998). The people who were mainly hunters contributed so much to the destruction of vegetation in the area by burning the bushes hence making it not suitable for farming. But this also aided in the development of other tourist attraction activities like skating. The area is dominated with different other people which has lead to a cultural change. There has been cultural interchange whereby the indigenous people embraced the culture. One of the main way they appreciate the cultural diversity is by holding festivals yearly which are also a source of tourist attractions. It is interesting for the tourist to watch people from different origin coexisting and embracing each others culture. Some of the people who coexist with each other include the French people, Britons and Spanish people (Roger, pp. 60, 2005). One of the main economic activities that are currently being practiced in the area is mining. The place is very rich with minerals and that is one of the reasons as to why settles were attracted to the place. The main language that is spoken in the Canada is English. The means of transport that are available include road, railway and airlines. Major heritage resources Heritage refers to those kinds of resources that are passed on from one generation to the next. Also it refers to the languages, traditions, customs and intangible cultural elements. There are past remains that help the tourist to understand the history of the Canada and the cultural and economic activities of the dwellers. In Canada, some of these evidences are found in the museums, galleries and different historic houses surrounding the area. Some of the evidences include the tools that were used by the people for hunting and gathering in the area (Dennis, pp, 40, 2001). There is also some of the clothing that was worn by the Indians to show evidence of their culture; very important evidence is the houses they used to live in and the caves that they dealt in especially during the seasons of snow and the tourist are able to view them. At different parks in Canada, there is some evidence of their heritage in the form of villages, which are almost wearing out due to their old age. When the tourist visits the place through sightseeing, they are able to get the evidence firsthand. Some of the parks where this evidence are found includes the Banff national park and Jasper national park while some of the museums are found in Calgary, Edmonton and Banff cities (Roger, pp. 90, 2005). Circumstances under which Canadian Rocky became a tourist attraction Tourists have been visiting Canada since the 18th century. There are many ways through which a place can be tourists attraction depending on the agenda of the tourists. The tourist may deliberately adopt the specific area for creating an economic activity, which is one of the ways many destination in Canada became a tourist destinations. Due to the existence of minerals in the mountain or rocky part of Canada, many people from Europe came to the place to settle for the reasons of mineral exploitation. The place is also dominated with many national parks, which are a major tourist attraction in the vicinity (Hisrich, pp. 67, 2000). This explains why so many people will pass by the Canada on their ay to the national park and as a result, it serves as a tourist attraction for the arriving tourists. Some people with the origin of Spanish, Britain and French also discovered the place in the years between 1721- 1800. These people were travelling to Canada for the purposes of mountaineering and during their visit in the 19th century; they gave a report of the place and the beauty that is found in the area hence making it a tourist destination to date (Roger, pp. 100, 2005). The country has also developed its infrastructure in terms of roads, airports and airlines, which had greatly enabled the development of Canada as a tourist destination for many people around the world. The factors that would influence tourists to visit the Canada There are many factors, which influences the tourist to visit Canada. A tourist can be pulled, pushed or motivate to visit Canada for the purpose of tourism. Motivation refers to some kind of determination that is accompanied by excitement for one to accomplish something. In other words, motivation can be defined as a behaviour that is goal oriented. Motivation can be termed as extrinsic or intrinsic and pull or push oriented . Usually, motivation is aimed at increasing pleasure and minimizing pain in the lives of human beings. Intrinsic form of motivation is usually from within a person. This means that one is completely interested in whatever he or she is doing (Riley, et el, pp. 90, 1998). This means that it originates from within and that kind of motivation does not depend on any other external happening. Some of the internal motivator is the goals made by some people to visit the location before they die no matter what. They want to see what has been recorded and satisfy themselves. On the other hand, extrinsic kind of motivation refers to the kind of motivation that comes from the external factors. Some of the most common extrinsic motivation on earth includes money, whereby some people are motivated to visit the Canada because they have the money to spend in the luxurious hotels. Push factors Push factors can be social, technological, economic, political forces or demographic factors. Some of the push factors leading many tourists to visit the Canada are psychological whereby the tourist may be escaping from something. They include the need to relax from work environment (Roger, pp. 65, 2005). Many tourists prefer the place because it offers them an opportunity to relax, others will visit because it has a cool climate and their climate is very hot so they prefer to visit the place and spend some time there. In addition, there are people who will visit the Canada because it offers a prestige environment, social interaction and for the purpose of knowledge seeking whereby some tourist are there by virtue of their class work whereby they are expected to carryout a research and especially Geography specifically geology (Brenda, 2006). Pull factors Pull factors are factors that will pull a consumers towards a given place. They include proximity, services, image, affordability, accessibility and attractions. Some of the pull factors to the Canada as a tourist destination include the travel arrangement and the facilities available in the Canada. The place offers high-class services to the tourist and especially from the seven and five star hotels in the area (Roger, pp. 98, 2005). The unique products at the shopping malls and leisure that is experienced during the visit pulls so many people to the vicinity for tourist purposes. The Canada also offers a high level of security to the tourist, which gives them a pull to tour Canada because their safety is guaranteed. Activities in which tourists engage at the Canadian Rocky At many destinations in Canada the tourist are offered an opportunity to interact with the social environment and physical environment. In Canada, the tourist gets to enjoy all types of food that are offered for them and with a variety of origin culturally (Roger, 2005). They are able to interact with foods from all over the world. There are so many visitors centre, which are designate in different tourist sites like in the national parks that are surrounding the area as well as the hotels in Canada where the tourist are able to socialize and interact with other people from a different cultural background. The tourist are also involves in sightseeing. This is whereby they are able to enjoy different sceneries available at the location like the snowy mountains, the high peaks of the mountains, the waterfalls, vegetation and the national park that are very attractive to the tourist (Brenda, pp. 90, 2006). The festivals held in the place by different cultural groups living there offer the tourist a chance to get involved. The tourists are also involved in skating on the mountain foot. Some of the tourists are also involved in shopping in the many shopping malls available, which offers great products in the world of fashion. How tourism has affected the lives of the people Tourism at the Canadian rocky and other destinations in Canada has offered great advantages to the lives of the people. So many people have been employed both the self-employed and the work. This is because many people have come up with ideas of setting up businesses to the area. They earn a living by selling their products to the tourist who comes to visit. Some people have also developed their skills in photography, which has given them a self-employment (Roger, pp. 120, 2005). The people have also had an opportunity to get employment in the different Canada sceneries as tour guides, in the hotels as waiters, waiter and chefs. The tour companies have also offered the people jobs and especially the ones with driving skills. All those activities have given the people an opportunity to receive direct revenue. In addition, there are some aspects of informal sectors but during the off-peak season, they are economically affected. There is an effect on the culture in Canada. Culture refers to the accumulation of habits and knowledge across generation. Many tourists visiting the location are international tourist and not local tourist (MacDonald & Jolliffe, pp. 102, 2003). The people in the area have different cultural practices and habits, which they exchange with the tourist visiting the destinations. They experience culture shock some times depending on the tourist that are visiting and especially due to some cultural practices and the language spoken by the tourist. It has been reported that due to some activities associated with mining, the water quality has been degraded as well as lo of property quality. This is due to the effect of mining and explosions from the mine that also has lead to pollution. Accommodation Canada offers different accommodation services and facilities. There are wide ranges of hotels for the tourist to choose from. Some o the hotels are in the surrounding sites and others in the Canadian tourist destination like the national parks (Iain, pp. 70, 2009). There are many motels, which have emerged in the area and especially with the development of the railway stations and the improvement of the roads. The parks and other sites also offer camping facilities and sites for the tourist who want to camp during their tour. Some property owners have offered an opportunity for the tourist to timeshare. This is whereby the tourists share place with each other for the period they are on tour even if they are not familiar with each other. In the national parks at different destinations, the tourists are offered accommodation services of bed and breakfast. This is whereby part of the offer in the accommodation charges is breakfast (Roger, pp. 34, 2005). There are also guest houses for the tourist who needs some privacy and private hotels which are mainly used by the VIP’s and people from the royal families as well as some people visiting the area for their honeymoon. Transport Travelling to Canada is much easier because apart from the development of airstrip and railways line, there are very good roads to the different tourist sites (Weaver &Lawton, pp. 78, 2010). Many tour companies have been put up and they are responsible to picking the tourists from different arrival. This is whereby cabs and taxi are available at the railway stations, bus stops and the airport to pick the tourists and drop them to the destinations. At the different site, the tourists are offered transportation by the management. This is whereby part of their fee caters for their tour transportation. They are given a tour vehicle and a guide. Gastronomic experiences Canada offers the tourist a wide range of gastronomic experiences. There are so many bars and food outlets in the Canada. There are very many hotels and motels, which are of different classes (Brenda, pp. 98, 2006). They are offered Buffy services whereby they are allowed to choose from a variety of foods. These food outlets offer a wide variety of foods considering that the tourists at the Canada are from different origin. The quality of water for drinking that is available is good. This is because the tourists are given evidence of the water quality as per the requirements of hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP). The foods are also offered in very high hygienic conditions. Alcohol is available in most of the hotels in the bars (Roger, pp. 54, 2005). This is because not all of the tourists consume alcohol and so they are given an opportunity to choose. The bars in the hotels are separated from the restaurant areas. Varity of sauces are offered for the purposes of adding flavour to the food. Sea foods are one of the min components of the dishes offered and the main reason is because sea food is part of the traditional food for the people of Canada. Canada is a place that is richly endowed with fruits and vegetables which makes them readily available in the different courses. The components for a brochure to promote the Canada This kind of promotion is for advertising the Canada (Brenda, 2006). Conclusion Canadian Rocky as a tourist Canada is very appropriate nor only for local tourist but also for international tourist. Apart from the attractive sceneries available for the tourist, the climate is also favourable for tourist from all over the world. The Canada not only offers attraction through site seeing but also gives the tourist an opportunity to engage in activities like mountaineering and ice skating (Riley et el, pp. 122, 1998). The tourist are assures of security, good food and the transportation is readily available for them. The chances for enjoyment and relaxation especially in the aspects of heritage and contemporary lifestyle have attracted many people and especially the young generation to the Canada.
