The research delves on leisure activities. Leisure activities focus on both physical leisure activities. The physical activities include sports activities. The nonphysical activities include non-sport leisure activities. Leisure activities must enhance one’s interpersonal relationships. In layman’s terms, leisure activity is correctly described as any act done during work breaks. Leisure is the free time during non-nonworking days like Saturdays, Sundays, and official holidays. Leisure is the opportunity given to the person to do whatever he or she wants during the person’s free from work time or unemployed time. Leisure time can be use to rest or recreation (Veal & Lynch, 2001). Further, Lynch and Veal correctly reiterated that leisure is composed of three dimensions. The dimensions include time devoted to leisure. Another dimension includes occupations that constitute leisure. Leisure also includes attitudes that define leisure. Both authors correctly insist that leisure activities include the love for the outdoor sports. The outdoor sports activities incorporate the leisure activities of the Aboriginal tribes of Australia. The Aboriginal people love the wilderness. Additionally, the Europeans of Australia include organized sports activities as leisure activities. The organized sports incorporate the European cultural and Leisure concepts. The overpowering demands of structured working lives included organized leisure activities. Leisure is done during times when work is finished or on hold recess (Veal & Lynch, 2001). For example, leisure activities are done at night, after the daily 9- 5 work schedule is accomplished. Leisure activities are done during Saturdays and Sundays, during off work days. Furthermore, Godbey rightfully insists that leisure is the act of pursuing the truth and understanding of oneself. The leisure act includes several contemplative ingredients. The contemplative ingredients are aesthetic, philosophical, psychological and religious in nature. Thus, reading several books on philosophy, arts, literature (Shakespeare) are considered leisure activities. Reading books to resolve whether Charles Darwin’s evolution theory is correct is another brain enriching leisure activity (Veal, 1992). On my own, my leisure time is spent on sports activities. I prefer to play basketball games. Basketball gives the quick mind to analyse whether to move forward and shoot the ball or to stop my running and shoot the ball. The game of basket ball allows me to compete with other individuals who love the game of basketball. Basketball is a game of speed. To increase my speed, I continually do speed running. Additionally, my other leisure activity is reading books. I love to read books on topics that are related to my class lessons. I love to read the tragedies of Shakespeare. I also read books related to my school assignments. The books increase my current stock knowledge on the topics discussed in class. Conclusion Leisure activity can have diverse culture-based meanings. The research shows different leisure activities. Leisure activities include physical leisure activities. The physical activities include perspiring sports activities. The nonphysical activities include sport-exempt leisure activities. Evidently, leisure activities improve one’s interpersonal relationships. Question 2 Introduction: Culture conflict often crops up in everyday situations. The research delves on conflict occurrences. The research delves on conflict resolution. Conflict resolution research involves contribution from different parties. Conflict resolution is the peaceful alternative to more other violent conflict interactions. The author correctly states that managers in event, sport, tourism and hospitality organizations must be able to address cross-cultural conflict in a sensitive and insensitive cross cultural communication. Resolution includes clarifying any misunderstanding that crops up in any activity. Conflicts are part of the average person’s daily interaction with other individuals or groups. Conflict resolution transforms the hurt or pain of wrong interpretation of a message received by the receiver. Often times, the receiver gives a wrong or unfavourable interpretation of the favourable message sender’s intended communication. Conflict resolution focuses on transforming the unintentional painful hurt cropping up from the communication to one classified as a learning experience. Conflict resolution should include turning each miscommunication another constructive change lesson. The other more unfavourable result of conflict resolution is to engage in fights, battles, or other violence-marred acts. Further, conflict resolution activities can be correctly done in several forms. The forms include understanding the true intentions of the message sender. Another form is to prevent an escalation of the current hurt level felt by the message receiver. A third form is the helping the hurt message receiver overcome the unintended humiliation suffered from the miscommunication process. Furthermore, conflict resolution can be rightfully done in a four step scientific process. To be successful, all parties affected by the conflict must exert significant efforts to resolve the conflict. First, the affected parties must diagnose the conflict. Next, the affected parties must list down all possible ways to resolve the conflict. Third, all affected parties must evaluate and choose the best alternative that will resolve the conflict. Fourth, the affected parties must exert all efforts to implement chosen conflict resolution alternative (Deutsch, 2011). Additionally, conflict resolution is a compulsory task. Without conflict resolution, the fights may crop up. In one instance, two lovers may break up due to a simple misunderstanding. Likewise, two close friends may decide to part ways when the other person wrongly interprets a request letter as an insult on the letter receiver. These are two negative experiences of conflict resolution. On the other hand, business partnerships may break up when one partner fails to comply with the partnership requirement to ask the other partner’s permission before engaging in a new business venture. To resolve the partnership conflict, the partner deemed to have violated the partnership agreement must extend his hand of reconciliation to the disgruntled partner. The partner must explain that an emergency situation cropped up. The emergency situation prevented the partner from seeking the other partner’s permission. Conflict resolution will surely prevent the partnership from unnecessarily dissolving. This is one positive experience of conflict resolution. Conclusion Culture conflicts normally occur in everyday community situations. Conflict resolution involves the implementation of amicable settlements between the conflicting parties. Conflict resolution can be done in four steps. Evidently, conflict resolution is the nonviolent substitute to other violent conflict interactions. Question 3 Introduction Leisure activity involves various descriptions. The research delves on leisure activities. Leisure activities include sports activities. The research delves on Liu et al.’s physical activities. The nonphysical activities include reading and other non-sport leisure activities. Leisure activities improve the person’s overall personality. Liu et.al. had a correct different explanation of what leisure is. Liu et.al. observed that an estimated 50 percent of the first year college students refused to engage in video games during their leisure time. Likewise, the same authors observed that an estimated 59 percent of the senior college students refused to play video games. Liu et al. theorized that swimming is a good leisure activity. Swimming will benefit people of different age groups. Swimming allows the people to entertain themselves. People can do free style swimming, breast stroke swimming, back float swimming or butterfly swimming. The people can choose to swim for one hour, two hours, or eight hours. Leisure swimming avoids the strict skills and speed requirements required in other sports like basketball, soccer, or baseball. The swimmers can even sit by the pool after a ten minute swim and converse pleasantries with one’s loved one, family or close associates (Liu et al., 2008). The Liu et al. meaning of what defines leisure activities is closest to what I conceive as leisure activity. On the other hand, lynch and Veal also correctly explained that leisure in the Western world is secondary to work priorities. If the work conflicts with leisure activities, the individual must postpone the leisure activities to a time when the individual has no more work schedules. Lynch and Veal classified leisure as a measure of one’s social status or rank. For example, only the rich people play golf. Likewise, only the rich people spend their leisure time playing in high stakes casino games. Joining an exclusive sports club to play tennis or golf with the rich and famous indicates one’s social status is higher than the average line and staff office workers (Furze, 2012). Sports activities correctly offer different leisure advantages. Playing basketball involves banging ones’ body against the opponents’ bodies. When this happens, injuries may crop up. When the basketball player is injured, the basketball player may be hospitalized. This is one of the dangers of playing basketball as a leisure activity. Some individuals prefer to play basketball as their leisure activity. On the other hand, playing tennis is a similar speed sport. However, the two opposing players do not bang their bodies against each other. Thus, the danger of sports injuries is lessened. Playing baseball is also a speed game. The players run to catch the opposing team’s ball. The game consists of hitting the baseball with a bat. The team with the highest number of homeruns wins the game. The games of baseball and tennis are enjoyable leisure activities. Some individuals prefer to spend their leisure time playing baseball or tennis. Conclusion Leisure activity can be described in different ways. Leisure activities include reading books. Lynch and Veal emphasise leisure activity involves social status sports.
