Argument on Technology al Affiliation) Introduction As we can say, technology has changed the world in a great manner. This raises the question of whether this world has been changed for the better or for worse. We will miss a point by calling a linear issue- the difference between old –school traditionalists and tech fans- is not generational necessarily (Castella, 2014). In this paper, we shall discuss technology past, present and future technologies in my field of information technology. Past of telecommunication In regard to past technologies in information technology, just to mention a few, analogue television sets and jukeboxes. In the past, analogue televisions were the most sort after as people were seeing television for the first time in their households. The first televisions displayed black and white pictures. With time, colour was invented to display on television sets. In addition, past technology in the field of music entailed the playing of music by a jukebox. It was a very prestigious thing to own such a device. With time, very much has changed. At present, no one is still using black and white televisions as they were faced long time ago. Present of telecommunication In talking about present technology, consider what cellular data, GPS, wireless network technologies, and fiber-optic technologies have done to increase information access. Incredible leap forward in the field of medical technology are saving countless lives every day. You smell the coffee even before waking up: with an iPod dock and a digital display, our future is electronic. Disabilities in learning are among the major generators of the intellectual inequality (Castella, 2014). Imagine your knowledge and thoughts being trapped within your head. With dealing with this disadvantage can aid in making the curve of learning exceedingly steep, hence undermining the students’ confidence in both life aspects. Task/time management tools, voice-recognition software, text-to-speech software (e.g. audiobooks), and programs of word-prediction are practical tool examples in the learning disability specialist’s arsenal. All this are in practice currently, making a great difference in and beyond Nova Scotia (Castella, 2014). A lot of great things come from technology, specifically from those who are connected. We see the rise of tablets in most of our systems of schooling. Instead of talking to students in a lab, Ipads are brought into class to allow them to work from their desks. This allows most students to learn at their own pace, and look up for several knowledge resources to find out information, right in front of them. We also see Smartboard implementation in our classrooms. Try and think back to the chalkboards that teachers used to write own. Now imagine that your teacher is able to show the class slideshows, pictures, movies etc on the Smartboard. Now you can be able to see the significant difference (Friedman, 2009). There are more possibilities that can be offered by life that can expand the minds of kids if this technology can be shown to them to its fullest. Some people, we can admit, are addicted to technology. It comes down to how this technology is presented to them if presented in opportunities and growth way, only then will we see a less addicted to Farmville society, and we’ll see a society more addicted to world news, politics, design etc. we should embrace the fact that this growth of technology and the age of computers is upon us (Kelly, 2014). To deny this is like being ignorant to change that we live and believe in. Simply stated, technology is amazing. Never have human beings been so connected. We have the ability to share anything happening around the globe in just seconds. We have the ability to broadcast thoughts and feelings on forums and boards (Friedman, 2009). We can use programs like Adobe Photoshop and Indesign to create art. There are personal interest websites such as Stumbleupon which can show websites with the basis of personal interest. I have learned more from this site and the websites it has referred. All this shows that technology is here to increase our amazement and wonder for this world we are living in, to make us understand our world companions, but not to disconnect us from this world. Like I stated earlier, it is never about the amount of exposure we are getting from this technology, but how we are technologically exposed (Friedman, 2009). This technology is all around us. From the home theatre in the living room to the computer right in front of you, with your cell phone sitting close by. Since this technology is here to stay, we have to gain knowledge in controlling it and ourselves too. We got to learn, as I mentioned above, the best way to technology exposure. If cant gain this self control, then we are at risk of being the person constantly “connected”. I am not and can’t be afraid on the impacts of this technology on the future generations. I try to look at the drive we got as a not-fully-submerged in technology generation, like the way my brother has been, or the way my children and his children will be, and get amazed at the point where we still are. We are supposed to take responsibilities in showing these younger generations that there is importance even in life with no technologies. That there is need to change and get “disconnected” and try to smell the fresh air outside, or just sit beside a tree and keep listening to the summer sounds (Kelly, 2014). It should also be our responsibility to make them use technology wisely, other than just Candy crush and Twitter. That this technology has great potential to in gaining something great. The question is whether we are excited and ready for wherever this technology is leading us. On the other hand, I don’t mean to change our children into computer robots. That sounds only good theoretically but not for the future generations. If we make our children think like computers, or rather write programs for them, then that will cause everyone to think in the computer viewpoint- yes and no (Friedman, 2009). The computer is not that much of a complex minded device. It just operates to understand a yes command or a no command. Of course we don’t want our children or their children thinking on a yes or no basis but rather getting them to explore the new topics as well as look at the aspect of them that is in depth. A computer cannot show feelings or emotions (Friedman, 2009). To try and make my point clear, hardly ever will there be an interview examination with true/false questions asked. It will be more likely, series of questions or essays. Now if you can hold on yes, this computer does the logic behind figuring things out , but I cannot see the logic of yes or no can in any time help a child who is growing up. This to some extent proves that without directions and responsibilities taken, and then this technology can be a ruin to our lives in a way or another. Lastly, I can say that most of these information we get online can be got from papers and books. The articles in the internet contain other sources as well, either from the internet or from literatures. When a professor from some part of the globe writes a speech, he/she looks at physical sources and a lot of books as well (Friedman, 2009). Therefore, the reason here is that we cannot guarantee a hundred percent trust on this data from the internet. The information spread all comes out from these books though it changes. I think you understand the point where when you pass information to a group of people, by the time you make it to the last person, the information is totally different. Well this is what happens exactly. Most of the information is paraphrased or changed and therefore ends up being plausibly false or different (Friedman, 2009). Future of telecommunication In relation to technology of the future, researchers are will be able to turn the field of robots into reality and merge with human beings. Some patients are testing the limb replacement machinery that concentrates the mind to function. From curing blindness, to regulating heartbeats, there is an inconceivable forward-reach into developing the human condition. The techno fear scapegoat is always the social networking (Castella, 2014). For example, the most concerned parents and teachers will always point their fingers at corrupt communities online, which embrace cyber bullying. YouTube and News site propagate online attacks victims, the most recent of a girl in her teenage who was tortured socially by a malicious online personality until she committed suicide. Such stories are incredible fear-mongering fodder, over the internet among grade school and parental community. Since fear can be an unproductive reaction, I can take issue with this point of view. Conclusion In conclusion, in discussing the various technologies before, today and after time in our field, I discovered that there are lots of things to be learnt about. It is necessary to always know our past technologies and appreciate the recent technologies made and the future technologies which people are striving to achieve. References Castella, T. d. (2014).
