With advanced communication, people can easily receive and pass information in different geographical areas. This is made possible by things such as the use of the Internet. Health, transport, media and other sectors have also greatly improved as a result of new technology. Improved technology has been very beneficial since things can now be done fast and accurately, this helps in increasing productivity. This essay thus aims to explain how new technology has changed life. Media Gone are the days when people had to receive news through a print publication. New technology has made it possible for people to get online and be able to share out information more effectively. Improved infrastructure has greatly allowed publishers to embrace new technology. This has enabled them to offer content in many new and different ways. The use of the newspapers and magazines has made it possible for people to share information with blogs, social network, Smartphone, feeds and many others (Engdahl 123). Additionally, new technology has come with a lot of opportunities for all people to have a voice on the internet through a personal site or blogs. With this, latest sources of information have been made available to the public and have established trustworthy followers. With these opportunities receiving and passing of information has been very fast and efficient. Communication In the past, communication with people in different geographical location meant sending cards and letters via the mail and the response took several weeks. People could pay for distant calls and only had the chance to talk to one person at time through the phone (Katz 97). Currently, new advancements in technology have greatly transformed the way people communicate; this is mainly because of the introduction of the Internet. As an alternative to sending letters, people are now writing e-mails through platforms such as Gmail and Yahoomail. The mails can be sent instantly to the receiver. Multiple recipients can also be added to the e-mails so that many different people can read them. The Internet has also made it possible for people to send greeting cards through the web by means of sites like groupcard.com. The use of new technology has enabled people to replace landline phones with Voice-over-internet protocol and mobile phones. By using Skype, people can now place video calls around the world to anyone over the Internet freely. Additionally, through a monthly paid service, people can make phone calls over the internet through a Voyage service. People can now call at any place, sent text messages using of mobile phones. Mobile phone technology has become an important way to send and receive short messages (Katz 238). Banking Long ago, the process of paying bills involved the use of a personal check, a payment stub and a stamped envelope. This process was time consuming since an individual had to wait for some days for the process to be finished. New technology has enabled people worldwide to be able to pay their bills online (Gleick 541). Additionally, people are able to apply for credit cards and also home loans online. All this is because of the advancement of technology. The process of banking has also been very efficient. This is because; people can easily withdraw money from the banks by use of ATM cards rather than queuing in the bank. Application of loans can be done at home using the Internet. Social network Technological advancements have made it possible to establish an online network of people. This network brings together people who talk about themselves and they get to share ideas. At the present time, this idea has become a very important development (Özyer and Gerhard 255). These online networks are; Facebook, Twitter, along with others have redefined how different people connect both on and offline. Additionally, such networks have made it possible for people to share information and ideas even when they are geographically far apart. Through the social network, people have also been able to find new friends and at times, others have had long term relationship. One of the social networks, Twitter is immensely gaining popularity over years. This is an indication that it is increasing in size. In addition, a search engine such as Google has made easy for people to access information. People can find variety of information about topics, subjects and places they desire (Kaufman 411). Companies are also able to research on the ways of improving their productivity through the use of the internet. Transportation In the transport sector new technology has played a great role. This is because people can now easily deliver goods and services efficiently. With improved infrastructures such as the roads and new modes of cars, it has greatly changed life in the current world. Good roads have helped ensure that raw materials reach the desired destination on time. Finished goods are delivered to the markets on time (Shapley 639). Nowadays, cars are manufactured in an eco-friendly way in order to meet the demands of the consumer. Advancements in technology have made it possible for vehicles to be made in different forms and sizes. Vehicles with large carrying capacity have also been made to help in the transportation of heavy loads. New technology, has also helped change life in that; through the introduction of mobile phones people can take photos, play games, stream movies as well as install a personal GPS device on their phones. This is through the aid of smartphones which has granted people the freedom to do whatever they want. Technology has also led to the development of things such as Personal tablets. They have helped change the way people connect with content and with others. It is because of technology that people have come up with new computing solutions that provide mobile connectivity and streaming information (Shapley 721). Shopping Currently, the introduction of new technology has made it very easy for people to purchase and sell goods. For instance, in the supermarkets people can now pay for goods using debit or credit cards and mobile phones. Advancements in technology have also enabled people to purchase goods online through the Internet. Currently, almost all type of purchases from travel arrangements to software to insurance can easily be done through e-commerce and this has come along with new business opportunities. Legal matters New technology has made it very easy and fast for common legal matters to be completed online through the use of the Internet. Things such as protecting intellectual property, forming a business and creating last wills as well as living trusts are now easy to accomplish. Therefore, there is no need to go through the attorneys general office. Mobile computing is greatly rising and will continue to grow; this will provide another way for people to continue connecting in different parts of the world (Gleick 650). Technology has also made it possible for people present cases in the court online. This is mainly done through the use of a video link. It enables a person to follow the court proceedings without being there personally. People can also present their evidences online through the use of the internet and this helps in saving time as well as money. Computing In the past, people were using typewriters, and before the introduction of computers there were word processors. This made it possible for the editing of texts. With new advancements in technology, new models were introduced. This new models had programs for checking spelling, dot-matrix printing and also had an option for increasing the format (Engdahl 831). Today, personal computers have become an important part of our lives. Computer hardware has a capacity to store terabytes of data and working at a faster speed. Through new technology, other things such as laptops have been invented. They are now capable of doing the same function as their desktop computers while being optimized for mobile use (Katz, 439). They are easily portable, and they are suitable for working any where. Computers have made it easy for individuals to multitask, typing articles, designing, optimizing images and photos, checking e-mails, building digital libraries of music and many more. Conclusion Improved technology has been so beneficial in the world today, this is because things can now be done fast and accurately, and this helps in increasing productivity. With new technology people can now pass and receive information to people in different parts of the world much faster regardless of the distance. People are also able to get first information such as latest news. New banking methods have also emerged making it safe and secure to save money.
