Experimental procedure The procedure that was used to carry out the experiment was as follows 1. Multi-meter leads were connected to DC voltage supplier as shown in Figure No 2. Fixed 5V supply was set with the red wire. 2. Dial of digital multi meter was selected to DC volts. 3. Black lead was plugged in the COM and red lead was plugged in V socket of multi-meter as shown in Figure No 3. 4. The pointer of LVDT board was moved in 5mm intervals as shown in Figure No 4. The pointer position was changed from 0 – 50 mm in 5 mm interval. 5. The voltage on voltmeter was measured. 6. The procedure was repeated to get 2 sets of readings.
The experimental data is placed in Table No 1. 7. Plot a graph for voltage verses displacement.Apparatus LVDT boardA digital voltmeter DC voltage supplier Setting up the experiment The first process in the experiment involves connecting the supply cables to the 5V sockets. In a situation where variable connections are used, there should be no exceeding 6V voltage supply. The next step involves connecting the output leads to the digital millimeter. With the connection, the LVDT voltage pointer is set as zero and then the pointer is moved at an interval of 5mm and the voltage output is recorded.
The procedure is repeated two more times to obtain other readings. Plot a graph of voltage against distance.Comment on the results that are obtained from the graph plotted.
