Tablets of Apple and Samsung One of the most effective strategies in marketing is being able to identify your company’s competitive advantages in a given market. Competitive advantage remains the most useful concept that fundamental for the long-term investors. Samsung and Apple have for a long type been in tech wars for the ultimate domination of their tablets. In the recent past, headlines have been flooded with the Samsung vs Apple war of tablets. However, both firms have learnt to make use of their competitive advantage explaining why they have been able to dominate the market.

For Samsung Company, they have been able to provide their value through three major ways. First off, they have concentrated in producing hardware that is generally very good. Although it may fail to be of as high quality as that of Apple Inc., it is well above good enough. Again, Samsung has done well in the market because they make less expensive tablet models as compared to Apple Inc. Samsung is able to do this because they get their operating system software from Google free of charge. Also, the fact that Samsung stands as and efficient manufacturer, they can sell their tablets for comparable prices.

Thirdly, Samsung’s displays great distribution strategies. This guarantees that their devices are available to consumers in almost all countries. Samsung also sails on the advantage of using software that most users are familiar with, android. Consumers’ preference mostly tends to incline on familiarity and commonality. Android, a widely used software, guarantees consumers access to most of the applications hence most of the android lovers/users will favor the Samsung tablets than the Apple ones.

On the hand, Apple has created a competitive advantage that no other company has ever managed to achieve in the recent past. They have developed an integrated operating system that ties together all their hardware and applications. This means that most of the apps in one of the products run the same as on another. Secondly, Apple’s other competitive advantage is that they entirely control all their hardware and software. This has been advantageous in capturing of the enterprise market where companies prefer a system that can connect a device to the larger company’s network.

Apple also commands price premium and royalties alongside their well-known superior products. They have used a combination of design and precise execution that causes consumers to perceive their products as quality. Apple’s premium brands has brought it more profits from sales of less devices as than Samsung’s sale of many devices. The huge profits give Apple a more competitive edge where they are able to invest more in the development of better and unique systems. One fact that remains is that the Samsung-apple tag of war still stirs news and conversations in social media with debates on which tablets or which operating systems are better than the other.

However, for now, Apple Inc. dominates the market a position that is under heavy threat with intended launch of Samsung’s premium tablets. In the end, the real winners in this competition are the consumers because they are guaranteed continued access to a variety of more quality tablets at less expensive prices as the companies try to outsmart each other.
