A methodology used for software development in which a common set of user interface components are pre-built and with the end-user assistance it is assembled, then it is known as Rapid Interface Prototyping. The adoption of rapid prototyping (RP) techniques for product design verification by US industries became widespread in 1994. At present, several tooling and metal casting options exist for implementing the technology. Nevertheless, the development of new processes and equipment for three-dimensional printing, stereolithography, selective laser sintering, fused deposition modeling, and laminated object manufacturing and office RP machines continues.

Routing tables grow in direct proportion to the network, meaning larger networks have larger routing tables.Routing table entries, which include destination network and hop count, are typically 20 bytes for each link, plus headers. RIP permits a 512-byte maximum packet size, and 25 entries can be included in a single RIP packet. A routing table with 250 entries - needed only by the largest network - would require ten 512-byte RIP packets to transmit a complete update. These ten RIP packets would produce 5,120 bytes, or 41k bits, of data traffic, leaving only a fraction of a 56-kbps line available for one second out of every 30 for communications between LANs.
