It is important for a support worker to be mindful and considerate of the situation because the capability to make decisions among individuals is different. It may seem simple and easy to consider people with mental impairment, physical illness or people with language barriers be affected and unable to agree. A professional carer knows how to work sensitively with the service user, individually and put in place goals to achieve towards successful outcomes. The mental capacity act states that every adult has the right to take make their own decisions. It must be assumed that they can do so unless it has been proven otherwise. Also, people should be supported in their decisions.
