Descriptive Statistics QNT/561 Definitions Central Tendency: Mean = average value of data in a set Mode = The value that appears most in a data set. Dispersion: Standard deviation = A measure of variation. Measures average variation of data points from mean of the data set Range = the difference between the largest and smallest values in a set of dataConfidence Interval: (data must be normal) The interval within which the mean is expected to fall at a given level of significance. Normal or significantly skewed data:Skewedness valueData is normal if the value is zero or close to zeroData is skewed if the value is significantly different from zeroDescriptive StatisticsNumber of employeesCentral Tendency: Mean = 26.

Crime rate Distribution is normally distributedCentral Tendency: Mean = 2.77Dispersion:Standard deviation= 0.88Count:10Min/Max:1.35 and 4.15Confidence Interval:2.22 to 3.32See the descriptive statistics in Appendix B, scatter plot is in Appendix C, and histogram in Appendix F. Education LevelThirteen percent of the subjects have no high school degree while 44% have high school degree.
Forty three percent have a college or college graduate degree. See the bar chart in Appendix D. Descriptive Statistics Interpretation Interpretation Number of employees Ten organizations were used for the study and the data was normally distributed. The lowest number of employees in an organization was 15 while the highest number was 38. The average number of employees was 26.8 and this varied within a plus or minus 7.35. At least five of the entities had 27 or more employees. There is 95% confidence that the number of employees average is between 22.24 and 31.36.
Crime rate The data consisted of ten points and was normally distributed. The lowest reported crime rate was 1.35 and the highest reported rate was 4.15. average crime rate was 2.77 and this varied with a plus or minus 0.88. Five or more of the organizations realized a crime rate of at least 2.78 and there is a 95% confidence that the mean crime rate is between 2.22 and 3.32.
