All writing Writer 1 August 2006 Physical Education 71. (C) Skill level in golf is determined by considering a golfer’s score after several rounds. Golf is an easy game but difficult to play. The score is most of the times a result of a fluke and one cannot get birdies or bogies after several attempts, many of the times it is a result of just a fluke. So the player who scores more and with consistency without showing a coincident in scoring is liable to be having good skills for playing golf and this is what determines the skill level. 72. (B) The skill level in swimming is determined by the strokes the swimmer takes in covering the distance. The arm movement, the strength and the tactic to move quickly gives the swimmer an ability to swim faster, whereas it has nothing to do with being underwater as the swimming is usually done by floating over the surface and covering a specified distance. 73. (A) The skill level in the game of bowling is determined by calculating the average number of score the student has achieved in a game. Again there is a possibility that some coincident takes place and just in a single stroke all the pins are down. So to check the consistency, the average is taken instead of looking for how many times the student has thrown the ball. 74. (D) It is quite visible that the increase in the distance between the targets and the player would do the job. As the long distance allows the arm to fully swing and the hand to eye coordination takes place freely, whereas the increase in weights can be disturbing and can cause misbalancing and same as the increasing velocity as this would not form a parabola at all and hands also not support this sort of action due to natural finger positioning. 75. (B) The free throws can be made easily by increasing the vertical path of the ball as this would again allow the students to have good and free hand to eye coordination. This would also allow the hand to throw the ball freely without feeling any hindrance between the distance and the arm movement, where as increasing the velocity cannot work as common sense, also a jump shot cannot work as one has to be stable and focused while throwing the ball. 76. (C) In the case the arrow is bounced off touching the red area, then 7 points are awarded as this might be the result of the unsharpened arrow’s tip or the possibility is again that the student has not thrown it accurately and intentionally. 77. (B) The shuttlecock remains inbound as a rule of the game, it does not have to do with what the player thinks as this might be a result of some wind that supported the shuttlecock to be inbound, whereas if it would have been outside the line then it would have been out of bounds. 78. (D) In the case the mechanical pin setter touches the pin and knocks it down then it would not be counted as it is because of some mechanical fault and the player has got nothing to do with it, it is 100% mechanical fault. Whereas the other pins would be counted and there would no foul for them. 79. (A) It would be a fault if the served ball falls in front of the short line as according to the rule the ball has to fall within the short line frame at the time of serving, whereas it cannot be called out of bounds as it is still with in the limits of the pitch and also cannot be called fair ball due to the service rule. 80. (A) In case one soccer player hasn’t got the intention to hit the other’s knee, the result would be the direct free kick. Whereas if there is some intention to hit the other player then the offender can be penalized by getting the ejection from the game. Indirect free kicks are awarded for minor offences, it depends on the referee as well. 81. (D) The smasher would give the shuttlecock a short hit so that the opponent cannot reach the shuttlecock to reply and thus the samsher wins the point. Whereas smashing or giving an overhead can enable the opponent to hit the shuttlecock and continue the game that is not the goal of any of the player. 82. (C) In order to enable and facilitate the rebounder in the game of basketball, the players have to use the zone defense as this could make the opponent players get busy and thus the ball could be easily thrown to the rebounder who scores. Whereas other strategies like give and go can bring the rebounder in the bunch of players creating problems for him to score. 83. (C) If the tennis player has to return back to the position considerably covering some distance then the player should play a lob shot as this would not allow the opponent to even think for winning a point and also the player can get back. The cross court shot is a good option but the player can be out of bounds while hitting it fast, so the other options are risky. 84. (A) The shot played from the back of the hand and over the head is known as around the head shot. It is played when the shuttlecock is a bit higher and cannot be reached through any other option. The other options have no sense in any such play where the shuttle is over the head. 85. (C) In the game of basket ball, one player passes the ball to the other standing near due to the presence of an opponent in front or near the player and immediately run passes the opponent, the opponent gets distracted and the ball is again taken over by the first player from the other player of the same team, it is known as give and go. While in other options such as switching, the player does not get the ball back as player is changed completely. 86. (A) A bowling pin that remains unbeaten even after a perfect shot is known to be a tap. The other options such as turkey and blow are not relevant to associate with the standing pin. 87. (D) Any long pass from the outer field is a cross since the hitter hits it cross many of the players. A chip shot is much similar to it but for the distance between the target and the hitter is very small. The chip shot and cross both are hit from the same area of the foot generally. 88. (D) In volleyball, if the ball is held while it is in contact with the net, the ball is known as held ball. The other options are not suitable as there is apparently no double fault. 89. (B) Since the spiked ball is not touching the ground and reflected back after touching the shoulder therefore it is said to be a legal hit. In order to have a point the ball has to be grounded which is not the case. Also it cannot be a play over. 90. (D) In the case, the teacher is demonstrating the knowledge of a behavior in physical activities, then it is appropriate content behavior. While the other options are not related to the physical activities. 91. (C) For the purpose of enhancing the catching, throwing or carrying propelling objects, the student must learn first to control the objects. The controlling gives every sense about the object and defense and continuous play comes second as they are automatically being practiced while controlling. 92. (C) A spiral is a type of the tournament. 93. (D) A ladder is not a type of meet in anyways. 94. (B) In case of using a previously used learning to facilitate a new task is known as transfer of learning. The individual relates the past activity with the new one and thus learns it more easily. However the conceptual thinking is related with the transfer of learning but it does not give the exact idea rather it emphasizes on the history of every learning. 95. (C) Since the student is being rewarded by the teacher therefore the contingency/contract method is used to facilitate the learning. The command/direct method would have been used if the student had not fulfilled the requirements otherwise. 96. (A) The reflective recording is not a type of systematic observational evaluations. The event, duration and self-recordings are observations used to evaluate any thing from observing. 97. (B) Muscle endurance gives the muscle ability to contract over a period of time, as it depends on the muscle’s well being. Whereas the muscle strength is a prerequisite to the endurance of muscle. The muscle has to be undamaged and so it can provide the desired results. 98. (D) Agility in the body predicts how quick some one can change the body position. The reaction time, coordination and speed are not the right words to describe the ability to move quickly, as we always say that the goalkeeper is agile. 99. (C) The power of the entire body is assessed when a person is asked to jump vertically. It basically shows the potential in the legs to hold the upper body and the strength in the joints of the legs. The balance and muscle strengths are secondary requirements, the power automatically ensures about these secondary requirements. 100. (B) In the trunk extensions, the core purpose is to find whether the body is flexible. Also it tells about the full body expansion and emphasizes on areas such as stomach, arms and shoulder joints. 101. (D) The exercising above the normal point is like overloading. The intensity is although a supporter of going through that stage and so as progression. The overloading can cause serious issues within the body, if not immediately then might be after some time. 102 (C) To improve the cardio respiratory fitness, specificity is the most effective principle. Aerobics is also a handy option but it then deals with the entire body that includes every thing and not specifically the cardio respiratory fitness. 103. (B) Applying more repetitions to the sets in weight lifting requires progression, although this can be related to overload, but when it comes to weight lifting, the progression is the most well suited as it is a further movement and growth. 104. (B) An overload is something that can be measured through time extension, frequency of movement or the intensity but it cannot be a perceived exertion as the exertion can be perceived through facial and bodily expressions all the times whether there is an overload or not. 105. (D) 146-175 beats per minute. 106. (B) 123-164 beats per minute. 107. (C) The warm up is always necessary but it should not be anaerobic warm up, which is aerobic without air or oxygen. The muscle exercises, the stretching and even the aerobics are all helpful and should be tried but with in the normal breathing conditions and in fact the breathing should be louder than normal one. 108. (A) A warm up is beneficial for all the mentioned conditions such as it allows to have anaerobic warm up later on, it allows to have stretching of the muscles, and also it reduces the risk of the muscular injuries. But a warm up does not releases hydrogen from myoglobin, it is impossible as myoglobin keeps oxygen only. 109. (D) The cooling down does help the body to regain the blood circulation, it also helps in removing the lactic acid and also it prevents dizziness which takes place after the extensive exercises. The only thing which cooling down does not support is removing myoglobin although it can help myoglobin get a strong hold in the muscles. 110. (A) The activities developing cardiovascular fitness should be performed in any condition of the body, it has no time limit but it should be performed without developing the oxygen debt as this could then be related to anaerobic which is not suitable for any development but for any cool down process. 111. (A) The overloading muscle strength is possible by lifting the weights every other day, by lifting weights with high resistance and lesser repetitions. But the overloading does not causes or requires the increase in heart rate to an intense level. However, overloading has got many other possibilities as well. 112. (D) A progression is although having no perfect startup it can be started with any sort of light stretching, perhaps ballistic stretching or even repetitions included stretching, but there should be no time constraint between the stretching such as holding it for 15 seconds first and then take it up to 60 seconds, this can be categorized in some other category. 113. (A) For the purpose of improving body composition, it is suggested that the individual should do aerobic exercise regularly and not three times a week. However, an individual can do aerobics at least half an hour daily, or can do it at low intensity or can do it in intervals with high intensity. 114. (B) For the purpose of improving the muscle endurance it is best suggested that the individual should lift weights at 20 to 30% of the assessed muscle strength, but it also depends as the individual should not be a beginner and should be someone who has been lifting weights from a long time. Lifting only weights daily is a work of a novice and also lifting at 60% of the assessed muscle strength can damage the muscle. 115. (D) The aerobic dance does not support the flexibility as it is attained by the stretching and only aerobic exercises. Flexibility can be attained only through ballet dancing. Aerobic dance supports cardio respiratory, due to the unusual body movement. It supports body composition and coordination again due to movement of various body parts. 116. (A) The rowing supports and improves the muscle endurance due to continuous movement of arms again the force of water. However, flexibility and reaction time has nothing do with the arm movements. It also supports the lower abdominal muscle area as the individual is in the sitting position while rowing. 117. (C) Calisthenics is a sort of sport that actually helps in keeping the body fit as gymnastics, basically it provides the practicing individual with power. The agility and muscle strengths are secondary to that. 118. (B) The rope jumping is a good mental exercise and thus it provides and improves the coordination, most of the goalkeepers are suggested to do rope jumping as it improves the coordination. Again the muscle strength is secondary to that. 119. (D) Swimming has to deal with every part of the body and the related issues to the inside of the swimmer such as cardio respiratory system, it also provides flexibility due to intense body movement in the water. It also provides muscle strength as the body is being moved against the force of water. The speed is not an outcome of swimming on the earth surface, however due to practice, it might give speed within the water but that is just an outcome to the muscle strength, flexibility and cardio respiratory. 120. (B) The data from cardio respiratory can notify all the body matters such as running ability, motivation, functional aerobic capacity but it cannot predict the natural over fatness as it is a part of the human body which is not artificially developed such as running ability and motivation. 121. (A) Flexibility. 122. (C) The individual who is performing 20 sit-ups and running a mile in eight minutes and has got 17% fat composition is having low muscular endurance, average cardiovascular endurance and appropriate fat composition. 123. (A) The person requires both muscle endurance and cardiovascular training, while keeping the other intakes normal as this could affect the individual with less caloric body due to other heavy exercises. 124. (C) An obese person should go straight for first walking, and then move onto jogging after a while. Whereas weight lifting and stretching have nothing to do here, this could further damage the person’s fitness level. 125. (B) Ectomorph. 126. (B) Assertiveness of course, as it is related to the motivation not stress and provides self-confidence. Irritability, insomnia and stomach problems are all related to worries of an individual and thus they all cause stress or being caused by it. 127. Landing a new job is not a sign of worry and stress, in fact it is a joyful thing, whereas personal illness, moving to a new strange and unknown state can cause a negative stress. 128. The use of alcohol helps dealing with stress but that negatively. The alcohol causes the brain to loose the stressing data and thus it soothes the individual for a while but damages in the long run. The positive ways are the active thinking, diversions in plans and whatever is being done. 129. (C) Although the body requires vitamins, minerals and carbohydrates to get a proper growth and shape but the essential of all is water without which the body gets dehydrated and the life ends. The water should be pure enough as seawater can again cause the kidney failure and death. 130. (A) The food from the animal sources is known to be a complete food that provides protein, although it is not essential but it provides the protein such as egg does. 131. (B) Polyunsaturated. 132. (C) An adequate diet for meeting the nutritional needs is no more than 30% caloric intake from fats, no more than 15% caloric intake from proteins, and at least 55% caloric intake from carbohydrates. 133. (D) The best way to maintain the body weight is by leveling both the caloric intake and the output in terms of work. The dieting is not a good option as this would further result in the weakness. Lifting weights is no good option initially but to have aerobics is a good secondary option for which the individual has to be already much fit. 134. (D) High protein diets are high in cholesterol, high in saturated fats and require vitamin and mineral supplements. 135. (C) People who take low calorie diets do not control their weights easily. However, they have to work more and utilize the body in many other related issues such walk etc. to keep themselves fit. 136. (A) The cholesterol levels cannot be controlled by the physical activity as they are related to the food, however the metabolic rate, stress and heart diseases can be controlled by walking, jogging or working out physically. 137. (A) The physical exercises can be helpful in improving muscle strength by making the body move, can be helpful in providing quicker recovery to the injury but it has got nothing to do with the mental tension. It might reduce tension initially but afterwards the tension is again there. 138. (B) The psychological benefits of exercises can be related to improving sleeping patterns, improving appearances, improving quality of life, but has got nothing to do with the energy regulations, it might be a physical outcome but not psychological. 139. (B) The physical activity cannot give surety to have a longer life expectancy as the death is inevitable and includes many factors such as family history and other diseases. Whereas it has got some relation with the cancers, Atherosclerosis and Osteoporosis. 140. (C) A stationary bicycle is the best option to support the body physically as it includes all the operations related to the individual’s body, such as the movement of legs, the position of arms, the back exercise and the stomach movement. Whereas the electrical muscle stimulators can be very dangerous as they can cause the muscles to get loose. Other machines might provide an extensive workout dangerous for muscles. Read More
