Full CRS audit and report of Burnley Football club Background of the team By then, that is in 1870s when the club was still a rugby team, it was hard to agree that a time is coming the club will be in a position to face the English premier leagues giants, leave alone the mere participation in the tournament. Due to their commitment and practice, the club managed to get on and push to be among the tope football club. This is proved from the fact that it once played with Torttenharm in the final of FA cup at Wembley stadium. It further has history of facing big English teams like Liver pool just to mention but a few. It hours of hey are witnessed just after the great world where the team emerged to be the best in division one title. It proved up to the task and struggled to hold up bigger teams although they were proved wrong with Arsenal. However, that was not the end of them since they still kept their start shinning, although dimmely but strongly and still maintained a big blow to some of the teams in the English premier league. Their feared colors of the team were Blue and Claret. In these colors, they portrayed their potential and proved how far they can reach. Introduction Burnley football club is a professional football club from Burnley, England. This football club was founded in in 1882 as ‘Burnley Rovers’ but later it was transformed to Burnley Football Club. This club first represented Burnley in the FA cup as early as 1888 (History, 2012). The club has played an important role in creating tough competition in both the local champion’s league and the English premier league. This club has a strong fun base distributed all over the world with their greatest base in England their home Nation. The club has several official club partners who support the team on financial basis and ensures the club maintains a significant management control. Some of the official club partners of Burnley F.C include; Puma, My Protain, The American Crew, NevilleGee, OrkFaniture Land, James Hangereve, Group among others (Burnley Football Club, 2014). The club recently changed its status from a football club to a more business oriented group that is the Burnley F.C Holdings Limited. The Burnley F.C Holdings limited is a merger of several companies that operated as assets of Burnley football club which is under the umbrella of Burnley Football and Athletic company limited (Limited Burnley FC Holdings, 2013)This paper gives a detailed report of a full Cooperate social responsibility Audit of Burnley Football Club. The CSR audit will help us determine and conclude on the performance of the club with regards its policy. Interaction with stakeholders Burnley football club as a social institution cannot operate as an isolated entity. It needs the assistance of stakeholders such as players, spectators, financers, the community and a governing working body for a fruitful operation. The club tries to achieve a positive interaction with its stakeholders through different mechanisms. Interaction with stakeholders is essential in ensuring that the club provides training and employment or the unemployed in the locality. In addition, this will enhance closer links between the community and the club. Maximizing the use of the facilities will give the club a good image hence, increasing support of the stakeholders. Involving the ethnic and minority groups in the recreational and social activities is essential in promoting inclusion of all. Marketing firms should also be involved in promoting and enhancing the clubs image. Conversely, children should be encouraged to play and watch football; this increases fan base and community involvement. Encouraging children can be doe through providing scholarships Participants The clubs participants consist of all those people who actions result in the enhancement of the clubs welfare. The clubs participants include the clubs officials as well as the players. The management board and the acting manager of the club Sir Sean Dyche’s are the ones who are entitled compose a prominent operational group for success of the club (Briggs, 2014). These acts include scouting and signing up on key players on contract or permanent basis. The club ensures that there is money set aside for the operation costs i.e. payment of players and staff. By the closure of 2013 financial year, the club had a total 94 managerial and training staff that assist in the welfare of the team. The spectators also contribute to the financial statement of the team through collection of gate charges and tickets, which they pay for the match. The spectators also offer a market for the selling of club merchandize such as jerseys bands, scarfs among others. Such spectators and funs that support Burnleys FC have been organized in fun groups such as; disabled supporters group, supporter’s liaison group, funs consultative committee and the supporters clubs (Burnley Football Club, 2014). Financial stakeholders The financial supporters of the club are in place to assist the club their financial base. Some of the financial supporters include the; Puma, My Protain, The American Crew, NevilleGee, OrkFaniture Land, James Hangereve, Group among others who play the role of official club partners(Burnley Football Club, 2014). Financial support money assists the club in meeting expenses such as cost of buying of players during transfer windows. Further, as illustrated above, among the many stakeholders that the team had, funs were the main drivers of the team. The funs are here considered one of the main supporting groups because of the following reasons. Here, they really contributed a lot in serving the team in both finances and moral support. The clad that the team wore when going either out or when playing at home were sold to funs so that they could offer in their financial support. The funs spearheaded with consultative committee where, their main mandate was to get feedback and gain insights form the divers and wide group of supporters. They did this with the main suppose of strengthening the team in terms of finances as well as support. This group ensured that the funs are increasing all in the name of supporting their team whenever they went out for a game. Community Burnley football club has a positive relationship with the community that hosts its home stadium, Turf Moor. The club has positive interaction as it has tradition that give back to the community. Through its academy, kids from education institutions are called and given a chance to explore their talent through being subjected to professional training. The latest fruit seen from these academy is the recalling of Connor King to be a goalkeeper to the under 16 England’s team from Burnleyfootball Academy (Briggs, 2014). The club understands the role of community in its development and growth; arguably, the management of the club involves the community in decision-making and considers the view of their fans. There is an increase in problematic relationship between football clubs and the surrounding communities. Clubs have been banned from allowing supporters and fans into the stadia owing to hooliganism. This strains the relationship, goodwill, and support of the club. This club understands that and it sensitizes the community in respecting opinions of other and solving divergent opinions diplomatically. Notably, community needs to understand that club is a representation of their lifestyle. Therefore, decorum and proper conduction of oneself is essential. Governing bodies Governing bodies such as the premier League and the champion league govern the operations of this club. Such operations that are in place include the basis of transfers of players and the natures of the contracts that they sign. Apart from the premier league and champion leagues, it should also be noted that further, the other pertinent team’s governing body was the FIFA just in the same way the body governs all other clubs in the world, Burnley was not exceptional. Apart from the giant governing body above, it is noted that the club had committee. The committee ensured the club does not lose funs, and that new faces are being ushered into the team. The new faces to some extend managed to boost the team and that is why, after Miller took over prior to Great War, the team gained grounds and was trying to fight up with bigger teams. Addressing shortfalls to Burnleys FC relationship with stakeholders The first shortfall for this football club is the poor performance of the club when it comes to the league performance. Although the management selection isn’t usually considered poor the club rarely gets to higher ranks in the premier league. The downfall of the team of the Burnley football club The instability of the team commenced fluctuating between the year 1897 and 1900. They were on and off the division one league, however they pressed on. The above-mentioned claret shirts came in after the green shirts were thought to bring them no luck. However the mess was already done and besides the shirts, the committee understood that they have to reschedule their tactical playing. In this regard, it is noted that after the team was ushered into the premier league for the first time, they again were neglected in the same year. Hence, they are among the teams that showed into the premier league just once. Generally, the teak was good and was worth it the trophies they carried during their time. However, it is affirmed that the alteration of managers and players is what disadvantaged them. The worst results were witnessed in 1979 to 1980, where they were relegated up to division three. A thing that raised alarm, and that is when Brian Miller came in. he literally did a great job, since during his time, the team is said to won the division three championship and hence thy were again promoted. However, in recent times that is in 1990s, the records shows that the team gained power and came back into the game to beat and confuse many bigger teams like Liverpool among others. Conclusion The team was began as a rugby team, and after gaining football interest plus the intervention of many people, it is amazing to learn that the team changed and they gained power to fight and face bigger teams without much fear. With the committee, the funs, governing bodies, like the FIFA, premier league and champions league, the team got a push to keep hold on their vision and ambitions, which they did to the last bit. It is of no offense to note that if the team could not have been interrupted with Great War; to some degree, it could have penetrated the football system greatly. However, with the less power and a lame financial system, the team persisted to the end. the club had well established strategies to enhance good relationship with their supporters, fans and the community. These approaches were aimed at increasing attendance, ensuring security, developing talents, and increasing fan base. The approaches that the club should have embraced include the acquisition of new facilities and rebranding them with clubs colors and brand. Facilities include shops that sell outfits and supplies, offices for management of its affairs, and academies for mentoring and training young players. Discovery of new talents is essential since it will enable the club to produce finance through transfers. Moreover, the club intends to increase attendance during matches. This is essential in increasing ticket sales and support from locally and regionally. Therefore, establishing good relationship with community is essential for the clubs growth. Involvement of the community will demand that the club conduct activities such as advising, guiding, and provision of facilities. As aforementioned, reducing violence, racial stunts, hooliganism during matches is essential. This can be achieved through control and organized schemes, as well as, providing exemplary leadership.
