There are four types of yoga, namely Bhakti yoga, Karma Yoga, Gyana yoga, and Ashtanga yoga. However, all these varieties of yoga aim to provide individuals with the ability to manage and develop the health of the body and the mind. Yoga diminishes stress and its associated disorders. Several studies in this area, have suggested that yoga is an efficient system to address stress-related disorders (Javnbakht, Kenari and Ghasemi 102).

The practice of Asanas has an interrelated effect on the various parts of the body. The overall effect is harmonious and influences the entire body. This feature of yoga drastically improves the flexibility of the various parts of the body. Unlike other physical exercises, Asans massage all parts of the body, including the glands and internal organs. For instance, the prostate gland, which is in general, seldom activated, is also subjected to a beneficial massage, by certain yoga positions (Benefits of Yoga).

The practice of yogic positions ensures proper blood circulation in the body, by supplying blood to each and every part of the body. This increased blood circulation removes toxins from the body and ensures the general wellbeing of the body. Such detoxification prevents the early onset of aging, improves energy levels in the body, and enhances enthusiasm for life. Those who practice yoga remain energetic throughout their life. Yoga tones up the muscles in the body stimulates them and removes excess fat and limpness from the muscles.
