There was a mistake common among the baseball teams and their scouts that they set too much in store of the reputation of the players and their statistics which were not a true reflection of their potential and quality. There were many players who were extremely talented but were left behind. Oakland Athletics started searching for these low values, efficient players and soon built a strong team. In this way the Oakland team, which had such low finds that its payroll was almost one-fifth of the Yankees ended up winning almost the same number of games.

Therefore, the Oakland Athletics were able to overcome the problem of funding by looking into detailed information of the players. They were able to gain an advantage in this unfair world where everyone is focused on just monetary values.
