That fascination never left me even as I grew. Over time, it evolved into something specific – the desire to learn about the sciences of life as much as possible. That is why I want to major in Chemistry and Biology after enrolling at Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences. Biochemistry piques my interest as it is the study of how life survives, a passion that I developed when doing my childish exploration with nature in the slums of Peru. On the other hand, biology helps me tie everything up, especially if I focus on molecular biology.

Apart from experimenting with nature when growing up, I witnessed diseases and misfortune my family and neighbors faced when living in the slums of Peru. Malnutrition and diseases are rampant among people living in Peru slums because there is no food, let alone proper nutrition. On top of this, sanitation is weak, and there is no access to clean water making waterborne diseases a real menace. Since the people do not have funds to better their position, they are doomed to live in this vicious cycle until someone rises and does research geared towards improving their life with cheap ways to attain solutions.

This feeling is what sparked my interest in Chemistry and Biology. I feel that studying more about these subjects will help me understand why human beings get sick and research on scientific solutions to the problems. Besides just finding workable solutions for the people living in the slums of Peru, I also wish to use my newfound knowledge to conserve nature. Understanding Chemistry and Biology is an excellent way to find ways to combat the constant environmental degradation that plagues Peru.

With advanced expertise in Chemistry and Biology and my interest, I can help discover or introduce eco-friendly ways to dispose of waste, mitigate diseases, and improve sanitation within the country, especially to the people living in the slums. Studying will open up my mind to what other great scientists already have in place and give me the tools I need to come up with new localized concepts that work for the Peru specific problem. With such a massive responsibility on my shoulders, I made it my primary focus to get a higher learning institution that can impart the Chemistry and Biology knowledge I need to save the environment and the slums of Peru.

My research led me to conclude that Cornell's College of Arts and Sciences is the place to be. The college has a good portfolio. It has earned its name as a reputable center for educational excellence. They have a well-structured science department that I believe is best placed to guide and nature my interest in Biology and Chemistry in the right way. By studying at this college, I think that I will have access to the right mix of theoretical and practical lessons that will impart the real-life knowledge in Biology that I need to make the changes I so much desire.

This knowledge will help me make Peru slums a better place for everyone. The college puts heavy emphasis on research. This is in line with my interest in people living in Peru slums. I believe the solutions to the problems I saw when growing up can only be fixed by testing a possible hypothesis. If the college gives me the chance to interact with an experienced research team, I will have the opportunity to grow my skills. I will also gain access to the institution's study material and see whatever recommendations they might have concerning the problem facing the people living in the slums of Peru.

This will be a high starting point in my interest in bringing sanitation, health, and nutrition to the place. Besides just getting a solid foundation in my academics, the college also has all it takes to fashion me into a comprehensive member of the society. I will participate in extracurricular activities, and other vital functions organized to make myself an all-rounded person. I am waiting for your favorable consideration of my application and look forward to studying Biology at Cornell's College.

It is what I need help with to actualize my dream for the slums of Peru.
