In simple words, this research will focus on different consequences of living in the city. Motivation The topic has been chosen from the personal motivation of the researcher. It is being noticed that people who live in the city have the common and general perception that the city is a supreme entertainment destination. Whenever the name of the city comes into the minds of the people, top of the mind reactions are fun, entertainment, life style and night lives (Schull 2014). Over the years the city has indulged the senses of people around the world. People across the world often neglected different consequences of living in the city. External environment and characteristics of the city is so exotic and luring that people intentionally over look different consequences of the city. Some of those consequences are very dangerous and life threatening. This factor has motivated the researcher to choose this topic. Las Vegas is a city full of chances and pleasures. But the city has some serious consequences too. Being a responsible global citizen the researcher has appropriate motivation to show case different consequences of living in the city. The research has very clear cut objective to make people aware of different consequences. It will be an eye opener for the people. It is being observed that men and women often make their minds about the city by viewing Television or surfing internet and from the external glitters of the city, but the city has some serious negative consequences and very often those consequences are neglected. The researcher has felt the need of unrevealing those consequences (Kwan and McCartney 2005). That is why this topic has been chosen. The researcher has noble motivation to make people understand and knowledgeable about the hidden consequences of living in the city. The motivation of the researcher is appropriate; the objective of the study is clear and has significant justification. Research Questions The complete research paper will be done on the basis of some research questions. During the course of this paper all those research questions will be used for coming to a conclusion about the paper. Those research questions are as follows: what factors attract people to Las Vegas? What is the average time span of stay in the city? If people love living in Las Vegas or visiting the city? What are the most popular activities in Las Vegas for women/man? How incidences of suicide are related with the city? How the city is related with drug abuse and living? How the city is related with crimes? All these research questions are very appropriate and will be able to reveal different consequences of living in the city of Las Vegas. Seven research questions are so relevant that answers of all these questions will cover the whole research objective. All these questions are backbone of this research paper. Answers of these questions will clarify different consequences of living in the city. All these questions will help the researcher to get the in-depth analysis of the subject (Lucas 2014). In the context of this research all these questions are significantly appropriate and these are the inseparable part of the paper. On the basis of all these questions the whole research will be developed. These questions will help the researcher to bring out different dormant feeling of respondents regarding the city. Generally people who live in the city or visit the city often get influenced by the external ambiances and glitters. These research questions have significant importance to gather information related with some generally neglected issues (Chase 2009). In simple terms, all these research questions will channelize the research towards the proper direction which will act as guiding stars for the researcher. Literature Review According to Ainlay and Dixon (2003), the city is a very attractive destination for entertainment purpose. They also said that the city has a long history of attracting global people for spending their time lavishly. Authors commented that especially fun loving young men and women love to live or visit the city. According to them it is the global entertainment capital. They also told that the city has significant tolerance towards adult entertainments. Author also commented that due to this characteristic of this city it is famously known as Sin City (Ainlay and Dixon 2003). According to Alshoqari (2014), the city is very much exotic and attractive for indulging adult human senses. But according to author the city may impact human psychology adversely. He also said that living in Las Vegas may have negative financial implications as gambling is a major attraction in this city. Illegal drugs are easily available in the city. According to the author many people living in Las Vegas are addicted towards those illegal drugs. He said that consumptions of illegal drugs are serious health related challenges in the city. The author further commented that the city is related with some serious crimes like illegal human trafficking and drug trafficking. He also added that as the city is famous for adult entertainments so, children of the city face negative psychological impacts in their tender ages (Alshoqari 2014). According to Borchard (2011), common people who live in the city are not having very suitable environment for living. He also said that unemployment rate of Las Vegas is alarming. People are living in the street and struggling hard to meet their basic needs. He also commented that the social environment of Las Vegas is distorting the external glitters of the city. Inequality is very much prominent in Vegas (Borchard 2011). Research Methodology Here in this section of the research paper primary research has been done. The primary research has allowed the researcher to control the whole research according to his objective. It has helped him to get first hand information direct from the ground level of Las Vegas. It has reduced the dependency of the researcher on the other sources. As the researcher has designed the research methodology so it has been easy for him to analyze different findings from the research. Focused group interview and questionnaire methods have been used for this research. In case of focus group interview two different groups have been chosen. Every group has five members each. People of one group are permanent residence of Las Vegas and members of the other group have come to the city for temporary entertainment purposes. These two groups have been interviewed in two different days. During the interview respondents shared their heartfelt thoughts in front of the researcher. The researcher has recorded all the responses in an electronic gadget. During the interviews process, the environment was friendly and the respondents were not under any pressure. Interviews were very open ended. In questionnaire method, 100 people from the city of Las Vegas have been chosen randomly. The questionnaires were distributed among them. In the questionnaire, open ended questions were present. Those questionnaires were mailed to the respondents. Before mailing the questionnaire an affirmative declaration was taken from all respondents for ensuring their responses. Respondents were given five days time to submit their valuable responses. Questions asked in the questionnaires were very simple and open ended. But all those questions were very much relevant in the context of the research. No additional psychological pressures were provided (Brents, Barbara, Borer, Orleck, Zukin, and Wray 2012). As the questions in the questionnaire were very simple, so respondent did not find any difficulty to answer all those questions. Findings and Analysis First focus group consisting of permanent residence of the city has told that they are not at all satisfied with the present situation of the city. The group has told that they are living in the city for very long time, their average living period in the city is 25 years. They are getting frustrated with different common adult entertaining activities in the city. They also told that the place has become very dangerous and crime has become a serious issue of the city. Illegal drug trafficking and drug abuse have increased a lot. They also added that different attracting factors of the city are having very adverse effects on the society. Findings in case of second focus group are totally different. They are over all satisfied with situation in the city. They are not very much aware of crimes, drug abuse and suicidal activities. On the contrary they are very satisfied with different entertainment activities. It is very easy to analyze from the above findings of focus group that people who stay here for longer period of time are very much aware of different consequences of living in the city (Borchard 2011). On the other hand people who come to the city temporarily for the entertainment purpose are not at all aware of different consequences of the city. They are pretty satisfied with external glitter of Las Vegas. 90 respondents out of 100 told that night life, gambling and adult entertainments are the main attractions for which they come to the city. 80 % of the total respondents told that they prefer temporary stay in the city while only 20% of total respondents want permanent settlement in Las Vegas. 75% of total respondents did not find any significant relationship of crimes with the city of Vegas. Only 25% of total respondents found relationship between crimes and the city. 60 people out of hundred has not been able to understand the consequences of drug abuse in the city and only 40% of total respondents have been able to understand the relationship. 70% of total respondents are unaware of suicide incidents related to the city. All the above findings from questionnaire method are clearly indicating that most of the people prefer to visit the city for temporary entertainment purposes. They feel significant attraction towards activities like enjoying night lives, gambling and adult entertainments. It is very easy to analyze from the findings that respondents are not much aware of the crimes in the city. In case of drug abuse most of the respondents are unaware about the different consequences. The findings also indicated that most of the people in Las Vegas are not aware of different suicide incidents. Conclusion Las Vegas, the global entertainment capital has successfully attracted visitors around the world. The city has been successful to show case its external glitters to fun loving people. In the process of that, different consequences of living in the city have been suppressed. People around the world are finding the city very exotic and indulging but in the process of that different serious psychological, financial and health related consequences are getting over looked. This research has certain limitations. Sample size for questionnaire could have been more. Secondary research methodology has not been included in this paper. Self-reflection Answer 1 Research methodology chosen by me worked well. I chose primary research for this paper. Focus group interview and questionnaire worked really well. With the help of this two research methodologies, I was able to gather in-depth views of the respondents. It has helped me to understand the practical scenario at ground level. My theoretical knowledge about research reports has worked significantly well and due to that I have been able to design this research paper. Different research questions also worked well and were suitable in the context of the research. Answer 2 If I get more time I would increase the sample size in case of questionnaire method. If the sample size can be increased then the results can be more perfect. With the help of high sample size I will be able to cover large population in my research. I would have engaged one more group in my focus group interview if time permitted. It would have given me more diverse responses from the respondents. Answer 3 I feel I can earn 2:1 grade, means upper division of second class honors. My research procedure was appropriate and proper. It has covered every single aspect of a research paper. At the end the objective of the research has been satisfied. Findings from different research methodologies have been analyzed significantly. Research questions were designed properly. Due to all these above reasons, I believe that 2:1 grade can be achievable by me out of this research. Works Cited Ainlay, Thomas and Judy Dixon Gabaldon.Las Vegas: The Fabulous First Century.
