Letter to the U.S Government Concerning Gay Marriage Concerns For or on behalf of other concerned citizens, I write this letter to the U.S government to make it clearer that there are more concerned persons to the issues of gay marriages. Two individuals of similar sex and bound by love ought to be allowed to openly celebrate their relationship commitments and also access similar benefits as the heterosexual married couples. Time is of essence and it is here that we must consider this minority group. Legalize gay marriages in the United States for it is just and a human right. I know of instances where adoption levels have risen from marriages of such couples and moreover, the mental issues among the gay individuals have been reported to reduce once accepted in the community. This same topic has been a taboo for the past 50 years that has seen its identity tagged as an oddity. All the circles in the community frowned and still do on the mention of this matter of homosexuality and have always been avoided in discussions. You remember of no one famous ready to promote this ‘vice’ as a lifestyle because all persons took it as a mental weakness or abnormality. Presently gay rights are being politicized, there are even shows advocating for these relationships such as Queer as Folks and New Normal. Similar to other persons from other backgrounds, I support the same sex marriages. We as the makers of the government need your support to assist them in celebrating the responsibilities brought from marriages (Gay, 48). Some say that gay marriages are not supported by any constitutional rights, this is untrue. They are under the protection given the constitution’s commitment to equality and liberty. In 1947’s court declaration in Cleveland’s Board of education vs. LaFleur pointed that freedom for individual choices in matters of family life and marriage were liberties under the protection of the clause of Due Process. it is hereby also noted as constitutional from this support from this protection and so is it from the clause of Equal protection. Personal beliefs must not be believed without prior consideration of the most obvious matters. The government must realize that this is not a state issue but a federal matter constitutional right. It important to note that marriage is among the fundamental rights to all individuals. Therefore, the state has no right to deny this heavily protected right. I would urge the government to provide an exceedingly strong reason if it would want to stop this right. In marriage it is only ethical to understand that love is expressed being the sole reason and drive to marriages. A commitment to marriage is among the related couples and not to the community and thus choices made by the society must never dictate their bonds (Gay, 48). Yes gay couples can and might never procreate naturally unless science takes another turn, but there is an option to adoption. The love between these figures will allow them to accept and support the child as theirs from birth. All be basic amenities will be provided under this context. The figure of unloved and homeless children will dwindle to some extent. Contrary and supported above is that these relations are not sterile as families will be born. Like other Americans i support the gay marriages, others would not even hear through to the end of mentioning this name. I blame the media for the bad publicity given to these unions, schemes against these marriages. Never the less there will always be two sides to this coin where in my letter I take the legalization side. Some think that allowing this would eventually undermine that marriage institution, I totally disagree (Scherer, 24). Please imagine a society’s life that denies persons to marry individuals of their own choice. How would you feel being next to your partner but possessing no legal right to pronounce them as their husbands or wives? You don’t have to imagine because this is the exact situation on the ground presently. The church and politics have long not agreed on most issues. There are arguments whether both should be separated but before getting to that point, I suppose that love brings out the importance in this institution. Embrace this character rather than throw it on the dirty gutters within the society. Most social problems will always be solved by legalizing what has come to be accepted. I remember once the president, Obama, put across that any American gay, lesbian, straight, trans-gender or bisexual deserve equal treatment from the law and the society. Just like heterosexuals go to some tasks without being judged, I wish that this could be accepted for the gay persons with the help of the U.S governments from programs supporting it. In pursuit of happiness as upheld by the constitution as declared under the Declaration of independence, the right to this marriage must be unquestionable. We were all created equal (Scherer, 34). I wrote this letter in lieu knowledge of its illegality in most states and it is taken spitefully and unjustly. Deep in my thoughts, sorting, and now on paper to the U.S government, I have developed a passion for this matter from the woes and wailing in silent hearts of gay persons lurking in the society praying for someone bold enough to mention it. Let people live their lives and worry less of others and their sex preferences. The gay community is afraid to air their inner feelings and this can only be minimized by gaining unconditional support from the government. Discrimination from friends and families must be discouraged. I cannot watch and see my government turn its back on liberty and equality. From the earlier support that they adopt even from overseas, then who said that the heterosexuals are the only ones with this ability to treat and bring up a child better than their gay counterparts? There are also those small percentages that have not come to accept their condition and thus must also be encouraged to accept this because it is part of their lives and they will live better lives once accepting this is also welcomed by the society. Situations that cannot be avoided have lead to women or men switching to affiliations desiring persons of sex similar to theirs (Scherer, 46). Generally, people are focused o what and who they desire in their lives and thus no one should judge the leads and decisions of other parties. Worrying of accusations for the gay freedom has long been drawn aback by religion perception of sin. I ask the government to open the minds of most people to show them that the gay people can live a healthy and happy life. They do not bother us and this way I argue that they ought to be allowed to be united in marriage. I wish to sum up my letter by highlighting that sexual preferences do not amount to values comparable to race, religious beliefs or ethnic background. It is therefore unfair to demarcate boundaries in marriage unions only for the homosexuals or gays. It is not out of reason to oppose this grant to the gays for their benefit that are honestly obtained in marriage (Miller, 24). One side to humanity notes that it is obligatory and reasonable to query oneself of the possibility that components of emerging philosophies of evil, more concealed and sinister, in an aim to reverse human rights from man or human’s families. The controversy in the gay marriage has been up to the fight in the interracial marriages that came to be legalized in the United States in 1967. Were these interracial marriages as crucial as these gay marriages if not more? I hope that the government will listen to our plea and see through this matter, legalization of gay marriages must take place from the angle of being constitutional. Legalize gay marriages at all cost and consideration is my request (Miller, 14). Work cited: Gay, R.. "Open Marriage." the minnesota review: 48-49. Print. Miller, Debra A.. Gay marriage.
