The Social Policy in Britain The Reforms-1832 The World War is a significantly major event in the United Kingdom. The war is identifiable because it caused major economic, political, and social changes in Britain. It started in 1914 with Germany’s invasion of Belgium after which Britain declares war on Germany. The war was characterized by airstrikes and marine attacks. Germany based its attack on the Western front while Britain and her allies invested immensely in marine and air ammunition.

British and her allies were victorious after World War 2. The signing of the armistice marked the end of the war on 11th November 1918 (Evans 2008, p. 65).World Wars I and II brought many changes in Britain. During the war, societal roles had to change. Women had to take up the roles that were previously played by men because most men were at war. The course of the war is also characterized by the industrial revolution. The revolution was a radical change in industrial activities that saw the improvement of production processes.

The Industrial revolution was strategic for the war because Britain depended greatly on the industrial manufacture ammunition like war aircraft and wars ships.The war changed the social setting in Britain. A good example is a fact that a lot of men died, some others injured, and this changed the status of women, as they rose to be family heads. Politically, Britain remained a monarchy but many people were pushing for the establishment of a democratic government. Economically, the immense capital invested in the war led to an increase in tax after the war.

It changed from 6 percent in 1914 to 25 percent in 1918. The industrial revolution was also a major boost for industrial activities.The Three Perspectives of the UK Welfare StateSocial Democracy Social democracy is a politically-based ideology that aims at establishing democratic socialism through the formulation of reforms and gradual methods. Therefore, Social democracy is a system of governance based on economic and socialist theory with the aim of establishing equality among all people in terms of wealth and opportunities.

The equality is achievable through collective or public ownership of national endowments such as local resources.The ideologies of Social Democrats are equality of all people in a state both socially and economically and establishing a socialist and fair system of governance (Hattersley, Hickson 2013, p. 136)LiberalismLiberalism is a political ideology whose main ideas are liberty and equality. Liberty refers to freedom for example to express political views. It is founded on the concept of classical liberalism, which pushes for political, and civil liberties to be respected and granted by the presiding authority.

Classical liberalism also emphasizes on the need for a democratic system with a well-established representation system. Economic liberty is also a key component. On the other hand, has its basis on the aspect of social liberalism. Social liberalism aims at ensuring that there is a proper balance between the liberal rights of an individual and social justice. It also advocates for the provision of adequate social services such as education and in the health sector. This meeting was preceded by a previous resolution of formulating a system that will enable people to move in the same direction socially and politically. The New Right bases its ideologies on the opposition of liberalism, egalitarianism, and democracy. Its values are based uniting people other than letting every individual follow their own paths (Gray 2013, p. 56)
