Question Counselling as a profession may have several effects in ones life. In the seat of a counsellor, one faces a host of risks in his or her personal wellbeing ranging from internal stress about your patients progress and what they might do next in their lives. Isolation is one of the hazards to a career in counselling and has been repeatedly identified as one of the magnificent origins of stress and displeasure among counsellors in professional practice. Isolation is the sense of both bodily and mental loneliness which affects many facets of the therapists life.

This inherent privacy and isolation of the therapy hour providing insulation from the chaos of family and job-related stress may be ideal creating an optimum environment for reflecting and listening to ones feelings and thoughts. This finally becomes a source of discomfort for the counsellor. When the stress accumulates, one risks developing guilt, depression, anxiety, high blood pressure, addictions and other stress related physical illnesses.Question 2 From the case study, Peter possesses the ethical responsibility of being trustworthy.

Eloise chooses to confide in Peter all what has been happening in her life, and Peter becomes supportive in return. It is regarded as an essential factor in resolving and understanding ethical issues. Practitioners who adopt this responsibility act in accordance with the trust placed in them to strive and ensure that the clients expectations have reasonable prospects of being met (Gabriel, 2009). Honoring their promises and agreements regard confidentiality as an obligation arising from the clients trust and thus restrict any disclosure of confidential information about the clients.

Considering Eloise situation, the greatest tragedy happening in her life is grief, extreme distress, and severe disturbance due to the loss of her only son. The situation seems to have accumulated to a level where she even whips the students. As a counsellor, the most appropriate way to help Eloise is through beneficence (the commitment to promoting her well-being). The concept of beneficence means reacting in the best interests of the client founded on professional assessment (McLeod, 2011).

It also directs attention to working strictly and providing services on the basis of experience and adequate training. In Eloise case, ensuring that her best interests are achieved will require systematic monitoring of outcomes and practice by the best available means.
