In this case, Conflict theory applies to stratification because it holds that inequality adversely affects the society because it brings about a fixed system of losers and winners. In this case, the losers are the less privileged in the society while the rich and powerful are the winners.
In America, the conflict theory of stratification fits as it is exhibited in the strata of race, gender and class.
