In order to avoid completely alienating everyone from their former social class and not have enough bond with them, they try to level their two social worlds and merge them in order to not only end their confusion but increase their social stability in the process as well (Lubrano 210). The children who grow up in blue collar homes work hard to get scholarships to universities and colleges and end up in the white collar jobs. Their opinion and ideas start differing with that of others back home as soon as they enter universities and they end up having little or no points to discuss with the blue collar people.

Their ideologies and thought processes completely shift and become above that of the people back home. But since they still need to join them for holidays, they have to make compromises not to merge the blue collar and white collar ideologies in order to not only cope but fit. Others end up having to completely keep quiet and just engage in small talk on topics that are safe and which they all agree on rather than enter into arguments with them. The social class pop culture clash but compromises have to be made if unity is to be attained.

This is the same case with the second article by Corliss title The Gospel according to spider-man. The article discusses the American pop culture of religion but with the same issues as those in the social class pop culture discussed above being experienced (Corliss, 2004). The statistics of religion in America indicate that 80% of the people are Christians but the reality on the ground is different. People and especially the younger generation of less than 35 years are not going to church at all.

They engage themselves in the movie world more. Pastors have had to change their sermons in order to attract this generation. They have started making their preaching through incorporating movie characters and movie storylines into their sermons. They seek the religious teachings in movies and base their Sunday sermons
