The continuity of the life of the community is usually based on the adoption of mutual consent between the husband and wife to procreate and nature children in a social arrangement usually defined by law as a marriage set up. Before coming into a marriage, the two parties involved have to agree to further their posterity based on the principles that the two share. In this set up, the most common factor are common interests and the opinions of the parties regarding the subject of marriage and procreation. In other meanings, the opinions can be referred to as the attitude of the parties involved in the constitution of the family unit with regards to formation of the basic community social institution of family. From the onset, no one can measure the attitude of the opposite sexes in the setting up of the family institute. This implies that the husband and wife that form a family unit, both have different opinions that lead to them uniting together to form the social institution. Subsequently the urge and need to form a family will vary significantly from person to another. Before committing to this kind of life, there are various considerations that individuals take that directly link to their opinion on attitude. In this paper, the various considerations of opinion that are directly linked to the attitude of different sexes are determined. Thesis: There are significant differences between the attitudes of males and females regarding the institution of marriage in the modern society. The implication of this statement is that before the formalization of the institution of marriage in the society today, the reasons and opinions of the male members of the family do vary significantly with the intentions of the female members of the institutions. Literature review To understand the attitude of the different parties in the family set up, it is important to investigate the motivation that leads the young into marriage or the impediments of the same. Several studies have suggested different motivating or impeding factors like the level of debt owed to the educational and financial institutions. One such study is (Bozick and Estacion 2014), in which the decision to go into a marriage right after schooling by young adults is reviewed. In this study, the basic concerns that are set as impediments are the level of indebtedness of the individual by the education loans and the level of credit debt from credit facilitators. The study tries to find any correlation between the subject of debt accrued during the education process and the opinion of marriage or attitude of the different sexes that find themselves in this kind of situation. Most particularly, the study reviews the aspect of motivation that lead the different sexes into marriage in this period and examines their difference in attitude at this point based on the level of financial indebtedness just after graduating from institutions of higher learning. Other factors that were considered in this study also included the race of the student graduates and the possibility of the different races having higher loan limits than others. The loan limits here is a reflection of the level of financial debt that the young adults are likely to face by the time they think about marriage The results of the study indicated that the different demographic factors identified by the study do affect the level of loan by the students in the American society. It also acknowledged the fact that education is one of the areas that has burdened the young Americans and is imposing a significant debt on the young adult graduates. As such the graduates find it a lot more difficult to break even during the early stages of life. This leads to the attitude of no marriage by the young adults up to some level where they can break even in life. The most affected group of individuals was found out to be majorly females. Their attitude towards marriage was skewed by the financial instability right after higher education. Of the total number of females interviewed, it was determined that in every increase of about a thousand dollars of debt, the ladies were likely to have an average of two month delay in marriage as opposed to the male counterparts. In this case the variation on the attitude was pegged on the financial debt and the level of study of the two parties that are likely to form a union. In this argument , the young adults that are around the age of leaving higher education and are in their prime age for the first marriage do grapple with a host of issues that shape their intention to marry. Some of the issues that are outlined in the study include the level of indulgence in interpersonal relationships, the level of financial knowledge and the level of debt accrued in the education sector and financial institutions like credit card companies. In this case study, the implication of the financial burden that the acquisition of student study loans have on the students and young adults are also highlighted. Their roles in the shaping of the attitudes of the young adults are also discussed. However, the study becomes more complex by the fact that it tries to find a level of correlation between numerous variables like interpersonal relationships and stand alone credit facility providers that makes it quiet complex to understand. But in addressing the attitudes of the persons that are involved and the sexes, the study remains quiet resolute. The study finds out that the attitude of the young females change with the number of relationships and level of financial commitments that has been attained. It discovered that males were the least likely to have high financial credit debt and females debt depended on the level of study of the individual. This implied that the female students in lower years of study were likely to have the least debt and a small scope of interpersonal relationships that could shape their attitude towards marriage. The elderly group had higher financial commitments and the corresponding interpersonal relationships motivated them to settle down in family set ups or marriage. In this study again, it is important to single out the motivating factor that motivates the young adults in to settling in to a family set up. The study identifies two factors the basic factors that can be broadly classified into two. That is the financial aspects and the social aspects that are illustrated by the interpersonal relations that shape the attitude of the individual before marriage. The bottom line of all these studies is that there must be factors that deflect the attitude of the young adults regarding marriage. The factors identified in this study are majorly to do with financial implications that the students face and the socio-economic aspects of life. to this effect, the most common factors that are seen to be able to deflect the attitudes of individuals are seen to be factors that deal with the socio economic aspects of life. These include the financial stability, the level of interpersonal relationships and the educational and demographic factors. The impact of these different factors on the attitudes of individuals is different depending on the sex of the same individual. as demonstrated in this review, males and females have a different degree to which the socio-economic aspects affect their attitude towards marriage. It is therefore essential to conduct a research to determine if there is a significant variance in attitude occasioned by other factors on the attitudes of different sexes regarding marriage. The research will specifically address the determination of the actual differences that exist in males and females regarding marriage. Research Population The targeted research population will mainly be composed of young adults. This group of respondents is targeted since they do have the potential to marry and are in their verge of getting into a first or second marriage. It would be possible to determine their attitude in marriage by a simple interview or survey. The survey will also include a number of married couples in a bid to understand the motivation in terms of attitude at an earlier date than the current population Measurement To measure the attitudes, several factors that influence attitude will be identified and gauged on the basis of influence. These factors include the socio-economic factors that will be identified by the research as indicated in the literature review and examined through empirical data obtained from conducting the surveyor interviews to determine the opinions and attitudes. The factors will be a reflection of the respondents’ propensity to have their attitudes deflected in forming a family or going in to marriage. Data collection methods The empirical data that will be used in this research will be collected using questionnaires and interviews. Through the interviews, it would be possible to formulate questions that directly deal with issues that touch on the person’s feelings and attitude. The questionnaires and interviews will either be administered verbally or given to the respondents in written form. Analysis When the data is obtained, a regression will be used to determine the correlation between the factors that have been determined and the attitude of the individual while deciding on the need to marry at a given age or not. All the socio economic factors that are predefined will be given a specific attitude degree and this will be used within mathematical functions and regression to determine the difference in attitude between the different sexes regarding the social institution of marriage.
