The organization holds fundraising events in order to raise money to run its projects and activities. The North County African American Women’s Association makes an important contribution to the promotion of cultural diversity and eradication of gender-based inequality.The Mission of the North County African American Women’s Association is: To provide a support network through education, health awareness, and life skills programs for women and girls in San Diego North County to increase their self-sufficiency.

In this regard, the organization holds different activities and projects that are essential to the realization of its mission and goals. The areas of great interest for this organization in the lives of women and girls include education, health, and life skills. Therefore, the activities of this organization are geared toward promoting these three aspects in the lives of women and girls. Education, health, and life skills contribute to women and girl empowerment and help to reduce inequality between the two genders.

With regard to the promotion of education, the North County African American Women Association offers scholarships annually to interested and qualifying girls and women in San Diego County. The annual scholarship awards are mainly directed to those girls and women that wish to pursue or further their studies at a community college, or technical or business school, as well as a four-year college. The organization obtains funds for the scholarships from the proceeds of the organization’s annual Gentlemen’s Gourmet.

Apart from the annual scholarship awards, the organization holds various conferences and missions specifically for women and girls. In addition, the organization is involved in community activities and offer support to different local organizations and charities that are located in North San Diego County.
