It seems that the claim by LSUS that there is no interest in womens sports is an out d claim, even if it was true at the time—which is doubtful. In order to accurately gauge whether or not there is an interest in womens sports, the university would have to poll the student body every year, as the interest would almost definitely changed with each cohort. This is exactly what was done in the polls that researched the lack of compliance with Title IX. Although the interest in womens sports is clearly stated after reviewing the polls, it still remains in question how much the womens sports program can grow.

The fact that LSUS has only a single mens sport, being baseball, means that proportionally it would only need one to two womens sports. This would mean that the interest in other sports besides perhaps the top two—basketball and softball—would have to be dismissed. Adding two sports would create enough opportunity for sports participation for the sixty three percent of the student body that is made up of female students, without a difficult strain on funding. This would both be proportional as well as catering to the interest of the female student body.

The National Girls and Women in Sports Day (NGWSD) is a day celebrating the participation and achievement of women in sports, and is celebrated across the United States. It began in 1987, a year after the death of Olympic volleyball player Flo Hyman. Hyman died of Marfans Syndrome while playing in a volleyball tournament in Japan in 1986, and in her memorial the national day of recognition and celebration has carried on until the present day.
