Self Disclosure and Managed Care Assignment Generally, I am of the view that self disclosure in a therapeutic environment is important for maintaining a good relationship between the client and the physician. It is through this process that the needs of the client can be understood effectively. It allows the nurse or physician make the best decisions relating to the client’s care. Personally, I would disclose information about my own life to the physician. However, I can only disclose information that is directly related to the issue being handled.

However, I cannot share personal information such as my address, phone number and email address with the physician. In order to determine if self disclosure is warranted, I will put five issues into consideration: to whom the information is being disclosed, why it is being disclosed, what information, the timing and how the disclosure is to be made. This criterion will help me know ether or not self disclosure is warranted. The use Managed care is important in ensuring that all persons gain access to high quality and affordable health services.

Through this approach, the utilization of heath resources can be monitored, and this helps to reduce the overall cost of care. The healthcare of the individual can be monitored, and this allows for improvements to be made. As a result, the quality of care provided is increased. For the healthcare professionals, I believe this approach has a negative effect. First, unlike before, physicians are not paid simply on the basis of the services offered. Managed care has put physicians at a high financial risk since they are paid based on an agreed fee.

They care supposed to be careful with the cost of resources used. Secondly, managed care puts emphasis on quality of service, and this has put enormous pressure on the healthcare professionals to provide high quality services. They have to anticipate and meet the demands of the clients in order to remain competitive. ReferenceNavarro, R. P & Cahill, J. A (2009). Role of Managed Care in the US Healthcare System. In R.P.
