Sociological Imagination Sociological imagination is the concept that enables people to think themselves away from the common routines of life and have a look at them in a new way. In order to get a sociological imagination, one must distance himself/herself and pull away from a situation that is in hand. One must think from another point of view. Willingness to observe the social world at appoint of others stimulates the sociological imagination. This involves abandoning the thoughts of oneself and the problems, then focus on the social circumstances that bring about the social problems (Ho).
One can change from thinking of a single family to a national budget, from a person in poverty to the policies regarding national welfare. One can also shift from the thought of an unemployed person to servicing the economy (Ho). Being in college will increase my understanding and knowledge in my field of study. I can foresee myself within the society, and it will help in a great way. Once I gain the needed skills, I will be ready to go and start my career. College education will ensure that I provide for my family in the future.
Sociology will open new doors in my life and provide flexible working hours to spend with my family. I chose this college because it is prestigious. The college is convenient since it is close to home. With the good name of the college, I hope to get a job and make lots of money with my degree. Friends who attended this college have been successful in life. I considered choosing other colleges offering this program. After carefully examining various factors, I chose this for it was the best. After consulting widely, I finally settled for this college because of its clear and strict curriculum coupled with its friendly fees that it charges.
