Adolescent Romantic Relations And Sexual BehaviorThe debate on whether the birth control devices should be given to teenagers is a never ending argument. Whether or not the birth control devices should be given to teenagers is based on the premise that whether teenagers should be involved in sexual activities at such an early age. But, on the other hand, society should also realize that the United States is the country where unwanted pregnancy is at its highest peak. Most parents believe that as their kids enter their teens, they will come to talk to their parents about sex but that rarely happens.

Most teens do not feel comfortable talking about sex with their parents. Teenagers should be given information about sex and should be thought that self-restraint is the ultimate way of preventing undesired pregnancy. Despite a lot of emphasis on teaching teens about sex, pregnancy is becoming common in the United States. (Parker-Pope)Some people on the other side of the coin believe that actually giving birth control devices to teenagers endorses sexual activities among teens. In fact, it is true to some extent.

Those teenagers who are not thinking about involving in sexual acts will do so if they are attracted by advertisements featuring birth control devices. Teenagers are the ones most vulnerable towards receiving sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) than elders, getting pregnant and need birth control devices not for the purposes of treatment but also to secure the female menstruation cycle. Even though most people don’t like hearing it, teens today are getting involved in sex. As teenagers are getting more and more attracted towards sex, it’s high time we do something about it.

We need to teach them how to stop pregnancy. (Florsheim)The need for giving birth control devices to teenagers is rapidly increasing by every day. In a report prepared by the Students against Destructive Decisions, almost forty six percent of high school kids are involved in sexual activities. Out of these, about six percent even had sex before thirteen years and almost fourteen percent had sexual intercourse with almost four people. The statistics gave us a cosmic idea of how much the birth control devices are important for teenagers.

Also, the right kind of birth control devices should be used as per the requirements of teenagers. It puts parents in an awkward situation if they have to decide whether their teenager should utilize the birth control or not. But if you genuinely want to take that decision, you should know its consequences too. (Kreutner 455-473)By giving birth control, we are not only putting a stop to the growing population of the world but also saving women and men from many lethal diseases. When your kids enter their teenage years, it is your responsibility to make sure that they use birth control devices.

Parents neither want their kid getting pregnant nor want them to engage in early and hazardous sexual intercourse without proper safety measures taken well in advance. It is a very difficult choice for parents, as well as the teenagers. (Parker-Pope)Work CitedFlorsheim, Paul.
