Genie: Secret of the wild child Genie (not the real is a child who is the of the film “Secret of the wild child”. Abandoned, deserted, and treated unlike a typical child by her parents, Genie at the age of 13 was found having eccentric characteristics or behaviors that scientists coined as “wild child” Documentary.com (2012). There are three points I like about this film that could be insightful and which one could actually learn from. First, it depicts the importance of socialization for human development.
Had Genie received sufficient attention from the society from her childhood, she would have not been completely left behind in human development through time. Another point, it shows the reality how normal human beings take advantage of situations that could be beneficial. The film clearly illustrates this through varying reactions and intentions of scientists even if they may be at the expense of Genie. Finally, the film also depicts substantial ideas that need explorations and even could either support or refute existing scientific theories pertaining to human behavior in a group.
This point does not only focus on Genie’s behavior but also to those people around her who were most concern about her case. Thus, in the entire film, one could substantially gain insightful facts or information on the collective behavior of scientific societies on Genie’s case. Some were having the amazement and even the case was entirely a gem for them because it could either make or break their career. Thus, a common collective behavior of these scientists that one could depict from the film is their positive outlook towards the case as there were substantial things they could or need to do.
