Discussion Board: Final Question One strongly believes that the Bible is the inspired word of God, but not everything in it should be taken literally, word for word. As acknowledged and explained by Gray (2001) from the Catholic Education Resource Center, “reading literally should mean reading for the authors intention. In our culture, however, there is much ambiguity in the use of the word "literal." Indeed, many will misunderstand our meaning if we claim to read the Bible for its literal meaning, taking that as a slavish bondage to the surface value of Scriptures words” (Gray 1).

Therefore, the value of reading the value is seen from the way the message is taken from the author’s context and seeing how lessons are applicable in contemporary times.Question 2: Genetic screening could either do more harm for some and more good to others, depending on whose point of view or perspectives one is taking (Wozniak). For practitioners in the field of genetics, their discovery is considered beneficial to mankind as it provides greater understanding on various disorders with the aim of addressing these, as potentially possible.

On a personal note, I would not want to have a test to find out if the baby had any serious genetic defects at a time frame when no treatment is available to correct most of them. If medical breakthroughs would provide appropriate interventions for genetic defects when detected, that is the time that I would consider genetic screening.Question 3: As an environmental advocate, one is an active promoter of supporting ways to conserve natural resources and to recycle waste products. The environmental threats do not only exist but apparently endanger the existence of mankind through wanton disregard and disrespect to the environment.

It was averred by Tyler that “in our society today, mankind plays a huge impact in threatening the environment” (par. 1). Therefore, as members of the human race, whatever simple and doable ways that citizens could undertake to assist in the preservation and conservation of the environment, should be responsibly done to mitigate the devastating effects of environmental threats such as climate change and global warming.Works CitedGray, Tim.
