Paid in Full, the Movie Paid in Full, the Movie Paid in full is directed by Charles Stone. The film was released in the year 2002, October 25. I went to the movie on the night it was released in theaters in a local cinema with my friends. The main reason behind selecting this movie over other releases was that this movie was based on a true story. It being based on a real life story could inspire anyone to come and watch it as anyone who watches movies like these could relate them to people around them.
This feature of movies like these usually makes people sit in the theaters for an hour and a half and watch the film with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm. My expectations from the movie were already very much high as I’m usually more inclined towards real life stories or the stories that usually have a real touch. I was waiting for it release and very much excited on getting the tickets of the very first show of the movie. The story revolves around the drug mafia of the neighborhood which is mainly controlled by Alberto Martinez, Azie and Rich Porter, struggling young man Ace, his best friend Mitch who is also a drug dealer.
The movie shows the struggling life of a Ace who works at laundry and tries to keep up with the world with so little to spend even on himself while some other guys like AZ (Azie) and two to other drug mafia leaders are living a lavish life by selling heroin and coke. Ace being an honest man, was not involved in all these things even though Lulu, coke dealer got impressed of his this character and offered him a place in his gang. When his sister’s boyfriend Calvin got arrested due to selling coke, Ace had fill his place and do his job unwillingly.
Progressing faster than expected, Ace realizes the value of this business and the money involved in this continues to do this business even when Calvin gets back and earns money than he could even spend. Ace joined hands with Mitch, continued his business and soon he was on the top of everything. But, one is supposed to have enemies in a business like this and when you’re trying to keep everyone happy, you lose your own happiness. Same thing happened with Ace as there were some people who were not so happy with his progress and went all the way to take everything away from him.
This criminal drama film was all up to my expectations. I was expecting some suspense, thrill and drama in the movie and it was all there to watch. The fulfilled my expectations in every way. Talking from a social point of view it was the aim of the director/producer to touch the core issues of our social system. The aim of director was to show how easy it is to earn a lot of money illegally but, with everything comes a price, losing one’s honesty means losing everything and this was what shown in the movie.
The aim of the director was very much fulfilled as the movie pretty much relates to our social system. In the modern social system it is very ease to choose an illegal way and earn a lot of money and in our society, money is everything. If you don’t have money, you don’t have respect and you don’t have a life. It shows how people I our society who have earned a lot of money illegally, are living in palaces while others who try to be honest are either killed or living in slums. Other major social problems raised in the movie were increased drug addiction in our so called modern society and the importance of money in the modern society.
Thus we can say that the movie “Paid in full” is a reflection of our modern day society and has certainly touched some core issues of this society. This movie could guide us towards a better society.ReferencesMetascore. (n.d.). Paid in Full Reviews, Ratings, Credits, and More at Metacritic.
