There are several Acts which were brought out to implement these type of affirmative actions had generated lot of heat and public debate. This type of actions not only helped in empowering minorities and women but also allowed them to think of achieving grater governmental and social positions, which was usually unthinkable before the implementation of such programs. Until 1970's affirmative action meant to seek out and prepare members of minority groups for better jobs and educational opportunities. (It still only advertising and seeking out in the field of housing.) But in the early 1970's affirmative action came to mean much more than advertising opportunities actively, seeking out those who might not know of them, and preparing those who might not yet be qualified .It came to mean to setting of statistical requirements based on race, color, and national origin for employers and educational institutions. ...
I strongly support for the implementation of affirmative action program the employment of police officers. I may not agree that it is "the " most important than other areas of life but it is quite important like other areas of life.
1. We have created two racial and ethnic classes in the country to replace the disgraceful pattern of the past in which some groups were subjected to an official and open discrimination. The two new classes are those groups that are entitled to statistical parity in certain key areas on the basis of race , color , and national origin and those groups that are not consider eligible for special benefits becomes resentful. In this contest it will be highly unlikely that this resentful group can be effectively control by their own group(white police officers are majority section) as a result the presence of colored people become imperative for the effective control of these resentful groups.
2. The people who are benefiting from these affirmative programs even though they may lack the require qualification to enter the policing arena were better placed in understanding their own groups in times of trouble eruption and can effectively deal with their own groups in a much more friendly and patient manner.

3. Even though compensation for the past is a dangerous principle this becomes more relevant and the need of the hour in this highly globalized world.If these problems were not addressed through such affirmative actions these marginal groups will remain marginalized forever. The area of policing to is no exception in this regard or aspect.
