Personal viewpoint about homosexual - Essay Example

The homosexual problem is a very delicate one, because it involves many aspects that must be analyzed properly. A homosexual is the one that has a sexual attraction to a person of the same sex. In my opinion even homosexuals are divided in two parts. There are the ones who had an emotional problem, a shock in the childhood(especially with the opposite sex), and now cannot have a normal relationship with others, and the people who have always felt unhappy and trapped in their own body. I am aware of these two groups and I think there are differences between them.

I cannot say that I accept homosexuals ,but if a friend of mine would reveal me that, I tried to help her. I would attempt to find out in which of the two categories enters my friend. If the problem is based on an emotional shock I would suggest her to discuss with a psychologist, because solving and accepting her past and the opposite sex maybe she would start to see the world differently. In this case I really understand the homosexual issue like a disease, like a chronic one that was not treated properly in time.

Even if my friend would talk to a psychologist, and even if she would take specialized treatment I don't think this is a secure solution. Homosexual problem is a subject that even doctors admit that is not so well known and even a long term treatment could fail. I could suggest my friend to go to the doctor, but the treatment might be useful only if she "considers herself a pervert and want to get rid of homosexual tendencies".(Kukurekin, Domestic psychiatry about homosexualism). If she enters this first category, the environment is very important.

The family and friends should encourage and support her .She must not feel rejected even if she, herself admits that has a problem. If she starts a treatment, this will not end at the hospital. During and after it she will be a vulnerable person and she must be sustained by everyone. Dealing with this problem is not a secure solution , because in many cases, after the end of the treatment the patient returned to his or her old sexual orientation, but it is a way, and I, as a friend, should suggest her.

But it is another possibility .That my friend would feel her sex like a prison and her body could suffer some changes according to this. The need for surgery appears only in these situations, when not even that you want sexual relations with women(the same sex), but you feel yourself a wrong person, physically speaking. In my opinion, when this happens homosexual matter is no longer a disease. I would say it is a genetically disorder. I understand better this kind of homosexuals and I would support my friend to do the surgery.

And this is not only my opinion, it is in a way demonstrated by specialized psychiatrists: "Nobody reflected that in each of us there are incorporated two elements. Both female and male. In the different people they are combined in various proportions. My friend's opinion would be the most important , but I think she should consider the other ones reactions to the change of sex.

When you are a homosexual you can pretend that you are like anybody else, but making a surgery you make everything in a way, public.
