A Case Study on Care for Children Introduction The government of the United Kingdom absolutely believes in the need to ensure the future of its children. One news item stated about a year ago plans to see (1) that children are asleep at the proper hour, (2) that they focus on their education and (3) that they have healthy diet habits. The scheme is well budgeted despite criticisms from several sectors on the aspect of encroachments on personal and family freedoms. In a very direct manner, the program is geared toward addressing the abuse and neglect of young people committed by those around them who either cause harm or fail to avoid it. Indeed, that is how communities think and care for their youthful members. However, with all these concerns, the issue of poverty is a very important factor in the rearing of kids and statistics are a source of worry. Incidentally, the effects of the circumstances of these young men and women linger until their adult life in several ways. [internet]) Jackie and family Jackie definitely needs help not only for herself but for her three children and one expected newborn in the few days to come. Her mother used to be a very valuable support for her but the former just suffered from a serious stroke and Jackie has to also attend to her in the hospital. In about four days, Jackie is going to deliver her new baby amid the pressing problem at this very moment of who will take care of her three kids, the five-year old Josh and the twins Jordan and Kylie who are three years of age. Regarding the coming birth, complications seem imminent probably due to smoking and drugs and it is most likely that a Caesarean delivery is necessary. Jackie's main itinerary for now is to bring her twins to the Sunnybank Children's Centre and Josh to the nearby Springfield Primary School where a key worker is a lady named Ellie. On top of that, she has to see her mother Pauline at the hospital. Thence, plans for getting admitted at the Wallgate Hospital will be made for the infant in Jackie's womb due to be out soon. Thereafter, the role of each agency has to be delineated especially on how these agencies can respectively be of assistance to Jackie's plight. The responses and expectations from the professionals involved in the case will then be summarized. The result will be the guiding standards in seeing to it that there is effective implementation for the best interests of the children. Stage 2. The same questions set forth in Stage 1 will be addressed. Added to those, however, are matters regarding the newly delivered child and the complications confronting her upon birth supposedly brought about by Jackie's history of smoking and addition to drugs. Particular focus may be had to the fact that the infant Pauline is now confined at the intensive care unit. It also has to be taken into account that the old Pauline, Jackie's mom, will be staying at the hospital for the next three weeks and will then be brought home where she will likewise be needing support. In the same vein, resources and options for Jackie will have to be pointed out. Then, the agencies which will have involvement will be defined as to the aid and assistance each one may contribute. After that, the professionals who will handle the responsibilities will be identified as well as what can responses or reactions do they have and what can be expected of them. In designing the solution package for the unique circumstances which Jackie is in, there are issues to seriously consider. (a) Learning concerns for the twins Jordan and Kyle must be outlined and must be stressed to the carers, (b) All of Jackie's children must be given sufficient attention and affection and must be made to understand why they are being left to carers or persons and agencies outside of the home. It must be seen to it that they do not react negatively to the unfortunate incidents that they are under. (c) The parenting attachment of Josh, Jordan and Kyle to Jackie has to be studied and assessed in order that the school and children centre which will handle them will be able to determine what kind of staff support can be accordingly provided. (d) Due to birth complications affecting Jackie's just delivered infant, the long-term consequences of smoking and substance abuse must be known in order to find ways for the maximum protection and care of the newborn using current medical solutions. (e) In order to mitigate the sorry life for survival that Jackie is experiencing, it is best to find out if there are available support systems for adults who have suffered a stroke as what happened to her mother Pauline. If there are, it will be advisable to source these out. (f) Since Jackie has twins, it is also incumbent upon the involved personalities and agencies to check any assistance from the government or non-government organizations where help may be obtained along this line. (g) The United Kingdom government has been capably and willingly in touch with its constituency on family matters. Owing to these factors and perceptions and considering the sorry state of Jackie, it is imperative for the carers of her children to see that she gets whatever welfare assistance that can apply to her. Synchronizing, coordinating and monitoring There is no complete solution in a nutshell. In the same manner, there is no state agency tasked to package all the available help, assistance and support which can all be obtained by a destitute and seemingly helpless family person like Jackie. The family support worker and Sharon, the health visitor, have to be constantly contacted for inquiries regarding any development and concerns with regards to Jackie and her new baby giving emphasis on the recovery from birth complications. On the basis of all these, the Common Assessment Framework form may be accomplished and properly and timely distributed to the appropriate offices and agencies. Reliance This work is really all about children because Every Child Matters. And if mothers and grandmothers are talked about, it is actually the children who are in mind. The leaders must lead and the government must govern. In the case of children, the United Kingdom is diligent and providing enough. Without becoming deplorably dependent on the state, people can generally rely on their government for their children in case there is that need for reliance. Every Child Matters is a government undertaking under the charge of the Department for Children, Schools and Families. As the name of the program exactly suggests, its establishment is for the wholesome, healthy and stable development of each child. This novel plan is of course aimed at ensuring the well-being of the youth, that is, all those up to the age of nineteen. Regardless of background, orientation or any other circumstance, the objective of the government in launching Every Child Matters is to see that children will be healthy, will be safe, will have enjoyment and will be achievers, will be productive contributors to society, and will become successful in their economic endeavours. Within this concept of welfare consciousness, all entities having to do with support for children must pool, integrate and incorporate their resources under a strong teamwork spirit. Schools, hospitals, police authorities and volunteer groups must group themselves in an innovative fashion where they share knowledge and information, work as a united force and together exert every effort for the protection of children and juveniles from harm of whatever kind. These youthful members of the community must be assisted in their visions to excel in life the wholesome and desirable way. They must be left to their own discretion over concerns affecting them individually or as a sector or group. Local authorities must always be there with a helping hand, searching for ways that serve well the interests of children within their respective territorial jurisdictions. It has to be admitted that in any welfare project, the problem on funding facilities is always a key element. Under Section 52 of the Schools Standards and Framework Act 1998, local authorities are under obligation to draft and submit a budget statement for education purposes. Information and statistics related to services for children and social care are likewise collated for budget purposes together with that for education. All these are geared toward good funding plans for local authorities allied with relevant assistance for the welfare of children and young people. (Data Analysis Pack. Ibid.) The point here is that it is not yet too late for Jackie after all. While there is no sense giving her the encouragement to be totally dependent on the support of the government, it may be helpful that she gets some consolation from assurances that when everything else fails, the state will do its duty to uplift her discouraged self and extend a helping hand. It is known to all that the applicable programs of the United Kingdom government is to enhance attention toward giving support to families and care providers which are the most crucial elements in the life of every child. Government is presumed to be aware that a child gone wrong today but helped out and reformed even at the expense of the state is so much better than that child proceeding on his or her to adulthood and becoming a menace to society. Hence, it always has to find ways and means to intervene toward protecting the youth from falling out. As a matter of fact, the United Kingdom government sees to it that people who work with and for children (a) are given credit for the worth of their contribution, (b) are properly trained in their given assignments, and (c) are appropriately rewarded.
