Each group of individuals from across culture had their (1) universal characteristics that they can share to individuals from other countries that allow them to effectively communicate with them despite their differences; (2) cultural characteristics that they can share within the members of their groups; and (3) personal characteristics that define their real selves (Turner, 1990). Cultural diversity aims towards addressing racial and ethnic differences across culture. It is the combination of various factors in relation to religion and ethnicity.

These mainly include geographic origins, races, languages, and dialects used, traditions, beliefs, and values, religion, social interests, status in the society, food choices, etc. (Spector, 1991). Furthermore, the U.S. had become more culturally diverse as a huge number of immigrants from across culture preferred to stay and live in the country for good. Glazner (2008) stated that sooner or later these immigrants, who are considered to be minorities, will become the members of the majority. For instance, Hispanic individuals had dominated California while the white Americans had become the minority group.

The same thing is also happening in the states of Texas and Florida. As a result, a number of health care professionals are having difficulty understanding and communicating with individuals from across cultures who are different from them. Thus, it is highly important for them to have enough knowledge and information with regard to these individuals in order for the healthcare providers to understand them better, to know how to appropriately communicate and interact with them, and to give them accurate remedies and medications for their illnesses (Glazner, 2008).
