The restaurant was spacious and the atmosphere was very relaxing. The setting of the restaurant was very lovely with wooden tables and plenty of chairs and sofas which make one comfortable when having his or her meal. The place is well ventilated and there was plenty of sunlight getting in to the restaurant, lighting up the place. The restaurant was busy with a lot of people moving in and out, a lot of nose emanating from people’s laughter and chatting. At the time I got in, the restaurant was about 80% full.

One of the waitresses came at my service. She was cordial and welcoming. I also noticed the same for other waiters and waitresses. They were very friendly and kept talking with customers and enjoying their service. I placed my order and got ready to observer the interactions among the people in the restaurant keenly. Despite there being too many people from different places, it was interesting to note that I was the only Asian person at the place at that time. I also noted that I was the youngest customer in the restaurant, because the average age of the other customers ranges between 30 and 35 years.

Despite my uniqueness in terms of age and racial origin, no one at the restaurant thought of me as being weird. No one at the restaurant stared at me or treated me impolitely, including the restaurant staff. I felt so comfortable at the place and proceeded with my research. Most of the customers were having a great time. The customers respected each other as well as respecting the restaurant staff. They talked well with the waiters and waitresses as they ordered for their meals and made enquires.

Everyone was well mannered. Most of them had gathered around tables having family gatherings, business discussions as well as academic discussions. The table immediately after mine had a group of four individuals sitting in that eight sitter capacity table. I noticed a woman sitting with her baby among them and her husband next to her. After a few minutes another group of four people came and joined them at the table. The woman with the baby stood up and gave each of them a hug as she welcomed them to take their place at the table.

After following their conversation for some time, I noticed that the group that came to join included cousins of the woman and some of her extended family. They seemed excited to meet each other as I could see them smiling throughout the conversation as they kept raising their voices sometimes while chatting amongst themselves. In my observation, I also noticed another table where two women had sat. The table was also close to where I was sitting. I could tell that these women were in their thirties in terms of their ages.

By the time I noticed them, they were almost through with their meals, and it seemed to me that they had entered the restaurant before I came in. They appeared to have a nice discussion while they maintained their conversation in a low tone. They looked focused and tried not to be destructed by other people’s conversations. They maintained their concentration throughout and none of them seemed to miss out a thing in the entire conversation. They had a set of books at their table, and they had pens and notebooks noting down important issues in their discussion.

I figured out that they were either post graduate students holding their class discussions before they began their lectures
