Additionally the regimes have severely constrained economic space. SCO seeks to ensure that the authoritarian regimes are monitored. SCO attempts to make use of nonviolent actions to maintain a peaceful environment and regional security. SCO involves itself in activities aimed at strengthening cooperation of the member states in curbing terrorism activities. This paper will analyze SCO, which is an activist movement. The paper will discuss whether SCO has made any achievements in strengthening the security of central Asian region through nonviolent means such as enhancing cooperation of the member states.

For a long period, the Asian region has been characterized by numerous terrorism activities. This has resulted to a notion that terrorist groups rooted in Asia organize most terrorist activities in the world. Military activities such as those conducted by U.S military in Afghanistan and Iraq have often resulted in criticism since they involve many civilian killings. It was due to increased terrorism economic inequality that countries in Asia formed SCO, which is considered an economic block. Although the main goal of SCO is for economic development in the region, it involves itself in actions aimed at enhancing peace in the region. . Additionally SCO felt that domestically made peace was more appropriate and it required encouraging various political groups to congregate and sign agreements on how to resolve their disagreements.

As a way of demonstrating that conflict can be resolved through peaceful ways, troops from SCO member states often hold peace mission meetings to discuss ways in which they can reinstate peace with reduced violence. SCO member states believe that the instability in Afghanistan stem from the poverty levels. In their opinion, the best way to create stability is through revival of economic growth in Afghanistan and not through military activity. SCO members believe in unity without domination. They are thus opposed to frequent interruption of U.

S, on the affairs of Middle East. They argue that democracy can be achieved in the region through nonviolent activities such as revolutions. They feel that use of military to curb terrorism lowers the dignity of human beings (“Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the People's Republic of China” Web; Nagler Web). To enhance security using nonviolent means, SCO adopted certain agreements. The agreements include Declaration on Building a Region with Lasting Peace and common Prosperity. This requires that the member states cooperate in aiding failing nations in the region to revive their economy.

This is critical in ensuring political stability in the region. Another agreement is the Strategic Plan for the Medium-Term Development of the SCO, which entails ways in which the developed member states can aid the underdeveloped countries in the region to uplift their economy.
