? Gay Marriage s 8 October Gay Marriage Same sex marriage is a debatable different people have their different judgments on it. This paper will evaluate the positives as well as the negatives of same sex marriage; the risks involved will also be comprehensively presented in this paper. Homosexuality is widely spread all across the globe; this is quite evident in European countries as they are more open to this concept than other countries located on the other continents. The US is also another country where homosexuality is accepted to a certain extent. Netherlands was the first country that made homosexuality legal and a lot has changed since then for this sexual minority. This paper will explore the sensitive issue of gay marriage, a comprehensive analysis of how this impact our society will be provided in this paper. Same-sex marriage first became a reality in America in the year 2004, when the Supreme Court in Massachusetts actually ruled that it was necessary under the equal protections clause of the Constitution. Connecticut in reality began permitting same-sex marriages in the fall of 2009. In April 2009, Iowa's Supreme Court ruled in favor of permitting same-sex couples to marry, also giving advocates an important first victory in the nation's heartland and thwarting the notion that only the Northeast will permit it. 7 April 2009 the Vermont Legislature made the difference. Jim Douglas's veto of a bill permits gay couples to marry mustering precisely enough votes to conserve the measure. This step made Vermont the first state to actually permit same-sex marriage through legislative action instead of the ruling of court. Two more states--New Hampshire and New Jersey--recognize civil unions for same-sex couples; an intermediate step that supporters say has made same-sex marriage seem less scary. New England remains pivotal in same-sex marriage movement, with a campaign under way that will extend marriage rights to gay men and lesbians in all six of the region's states by 2012. The meaning of marriage gets completely redefined when two men marry each other and the same has become an issue that has come to the limelight. Gay marriage is a serious threat and it challenges the nature too and this is because two men can never reproduce and take their generation forward. They can adopt a child but they can never fulfill the gap left, that gap can only be fulfilled by a mother. The divorce rates are extremely high when two men or women marry each other and research goes to prove it. Heterosexual divorces are much less than homosexual divorces and this is another reason why people oppose gay marriages. Gay marriages have also come under intense scrutiny with regard to the tradition that the world has been following for many years. When it comes to mental health, it has been found that Gays are much less healthier than normal people and this is because of their genetic makeup, their way of walking, the way they talk differs from normal people and they are different from normal people. The Spread of Immorality The holy Bible is read in almost all the countries and according to the Bible “So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.” (God’s Plan for Sexuality, n.d.). If the Bible is closely read it is clearly found that gay marriages are completely prohibited and against the law of nature. Bible is considered as the holy book for all those who believe in Christianity and homosexuality is ironically spreading predominantly in Europe where Christians are in abundance. This is completely unacceptable and unjust, people have become hypo crates these days, and they say a different thing but practice a completely different thing. It is high time for self reflection, such people must realize that what they are practicing is completely wrong and they must correct their actions. Bible completely rejects the concept of Gay marriage and this should be understood by the people. “If God had intended the human race to be fulfilled through both heterosexual and homosexual marriage, He would have designed our bodies to allow reproduction through both means and made both means of sexual intercourse healthy and natural. Homosexual anal intercourse carries a high risk of disease, this is recognized in Scripture where gay men are said to receive in their bodies the due penalty for their error.” (Christian Answers, n.d.). Emotional Take on Gay Marriages Men are different from women emotionally and even the genetic makeup of men and women is different. To provide a right balance, it is highly advisable that a man must only marry and live with a woman. This ensures sanity and peace in the family; this also ensures emotional stability of both man and woman. If we try to challenge the rule of nature then we are in for a real rough ride. Gay marriage is challenging nature and disrespecting the creation of god. Even for those who are atheists, it is proven that gay marriages are twice as likely as normal marriage to get divorced. Emotional aspect of marriage is very important and gay marriage can never provide that emotional stability required in marriage, the stability that women provide can never be compensated by men. The role of women can only be played by women and the role of men can only be played by men. The substitution is just not possible and we must not encourage this in our society. This can have serious repercussions and it can lead to disorientating the society. “We cannot bend the principles of God's Word to suit vocal minority groups. While some nations may enact laws permitting these evils, the true church of God must stand resolutely firm and never allow the sanctioning of same sex marriages by Christian clergy. No church that takes the Bible seriously can sanction a union between homosexuals or lesbians” (Society, n.d.). Pros of Gay Marriage (Counter Argument) Marriage should be available to all couples and by denying them the right to marry; we also deny them the benefits of marriage. This also refers to minority discrimination, these minorities must never be suppressed, and they should be allowed to do whatever they feel like. They have a very strong case and denying them is only going to make them contumacious. Gay marriages have never hurt any society and it will never hurt any society, this should be allowed. They never disturb anyone and there shouldn’t be any problem should gays marry each other. Love is the biggest element that matter in a marriage and of two men love each other, no power in the world should deny them the right to marry each other. It is beyond reasoning to stop them from marrying each other. The high risk sexual lifestyle is also curbed when these marriages take place; people give up high risk sexual lifestyle once they are married. “For too long homosexuality has been considered a form of "deviant sexual behavior". Those making these accusations should examine the history books and the psychological research. Throughout our history, going all the way back to ancient Greece, homosexual relationships had always existed. The term "lesbian" comes from a Greek island called "Lesbos" where many such couples lived. An overwhelming amount of research has been done showing that homosexuality has a biological causation; not a genetic one, but a biological one. The easiest way to think of it is as a hormonal switch that gets thrown one way or the other. And if you think about it, it makes logical sense. Consider many gays and lesbians you've seen. Not always, but many times, secondary sexual characteristics resemble the opposite sex. In other words, homosexual males often have softer voices. Lesbians may have strong cheekbones and a more masculine body shape. It's all affected by those hormone switches. And why would someone choose to be gay” (Balanced Politics, 2009) Conclusion To conclude it is very fair to say that Gay marriages must not be stopped come what may, these marriages should be legalized. No power should stop two men madly in love with each other the right to marry and it is cynical more than anything else to stop them from marrying. The sooner this changes, the better for gays. It is high time to change ourselves and it is time to accept homosexuality. References Boswell, John (1995). The marriage of likeness: Same-sex unions in pre-modern Europe.
